HOTAS set up on the PS4

Your insights would be appreciated if you can post how you set it up. Seems things would be easier if we had keyboard support for some things... Maybe down the road as an enhancement.

If you're talking about how I set up the key assignments, then that is available from the options menu on the pc. There's a huge list of things to play with, but it's easy enough to change one, you just select one of the two 'slots' for the action, then use the key/control you want to set it off, which adds it in (there are in-built checks for duplicates).

For voice attack, I use HCS voice packs and they have the settings built in (I actually had to reset a couple of my bindings back to default to accomodate their settings, which was not a problem thankfully).

I'm, obviously, still waiting to see what the PS4 options menu will look like . . . I just hope to be able to find keyboard use being allowed for control bindings as well as the HOTAS.

Yup thanks, how do those work as binds? Do you bind like one key to a multi function? Not sure how the HOTAS works as your template lists the same DS4 buttons over and over? Can you explain it. Cheers.
Yeh. So, for example, the top hat has 4 basic functions. Up = add a pip to engine power, left = add a pip to to system power, right = add a pip to weapon power and down = reset all pips.
But, by holding the "X" button these 4 positions could, for example, now allow you to change weapon groups. holding "Triangle" could allow those buttons to control thrusters (maybe up, down, left and right). Hold "Square"... well... you get the idea... :)

So, the template is just so someone can print it out and then write in what they bind so they have a quick reference.
Hope that helps

Gus

Yup, like gushaines just explained, the same button will have 2 or 3 different functions, as long as you use assign and use another button as a "Shift".
It's a bit like your computer keyboard. Some keys have multiple functions, as long as you hold "Shift" or "Alt".

War Thunder did a great job in that regard, not only did they had a default profile for Hotas 4, but they even let you adjust the sensitivity sliders and remap every button or axis. That allowed me to assign a total of 2 "Shift" buttons to fit my play style.
I hope Elite Dangerous does the same.

Reminds me of the Commodore 64 flight sim days when you had a keyboard overlay - space shuttle simulator i think....I'm going to need a bigger bit of paper...lol
