HOTAS stand alone?

Hey everyone.

I am in love with my Sidewinder precision 2. Bought it for Battlefield 1942 a over a decade ago and its still perfect.

I need a HOTAS though now because of the extra axis of flight in space. Need something with at least two hats on it so that I can safely put the keyboard away. In my searches, only the X-55 and the warthog seem to have everything im looking for. I have no desire to use either joystick tough. Can I buy JUST the throttle? Does anyone have JUST the throttle used?

Sidewinder for life brah!!

The only one that comes to mind is the CH Products Pro Throttle, which is covered in hats and uses its own dedicated USB connector. It's not a rolling throttle though, so it won't quite feel like an X-55 or a Warthog.

Personally, I use an x52 Pro and I'm happy. Have you looked at the normal x52 any?

You could always get the thrustmaster hotas x, (about £35) and continue to use the sidewinder for main flight controls, the hotas throttle as throttle, and the hotas stick for thrust. Then set the hats and other buttons for whatever you want. That is what I have set up and it seems to work well, not actually used it much yet because I also have cougar MFDs and am waiting for ED to be able to see them so I can set up the keys properly.

@ ragapart If you are able to use Target to combine your controllers you can use your MFDs now. Its worth programming them to send keypresses though.

I was playing with target yesterday, did not get it working yet. Planning to play over the weekend and see if \i can get it going. Still would be nice if ED saw them properly the same as FSX which came out ten years ago. Thanks anyway, I was not very awake yesterday and just did not get things working with target.

This is what I use alongside VoiceAttack with the ED voice pack... very cool!

I hardly touch the keyboard at all now :)

The Warthogs throttle is available as a standalone without the stick.

I've recently used the throttle with a mouse and later different stick because I managed to break the stick - worked without any problems.
