Hotas 'strafe' binding

Hello All,

I'm posting this in the General section since the HOTAS isn't platform specific. So this weekend the HOTAS by Thustmaster is releasing for Xbox One. I think they named it the HOTAS One X. In game, i use a lot of downward thrust while turning up in combat, this makes sort of a circular motion around the target. On a controller, this means the use of both thumbsticks simultaneously; right stick down, left stick down (for nose up). Now I can imagine the left and thrust ('strafing') to be bound to twisting the stick, but where is the upward and downward thrust? People say it has the same amount of buttons, but this seems limited.

Your thoughts please.

Well the website says they modular? and compatible with the T-Flight rudder pedals on XBox.

Thats how I strafe on PC. Pedals are amazing they give you four more axis of control.

No, the stick is used for the primary movement (pitch, roll, yaw), and you use the thumbstick for vertical and lateral thrust.

Ok soooo, that means the peddals are the upward and downward thrust? Seems like a lot of money for just thrusting down. I'm only planning on buying the HOTAS but it seems to be more limited than a controller in this regard.

No - there are also things called Toe-brakes on pedals as well.

So you can have left, right, up and down thrust all on the pedals. Four axes you can configure anyway you want.

You certainly don't need pedals. It all comes down to cost in the end.
But with them you can use the joystick Hat control / Thumbstick for something else.
I use it adjust Pips - so easy and quick.

Ah, by thumbstick you mean the thing on top of the right hand stick? Makes sense! No need for the pedals then, thank God.

Correct. :)

Try looking here --> for the XBox in game default bindings map for the New Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS One

I'd personally change them, controlling vertical/lateral thrust with the same finger is more efficient IMHO. But good link, clearly shows how much you can bind.

So what bindings do you have on your pedals to give four axes ?....

I can see slide feet forward and back in concert (tied together left forward = right back) for the rudder but what about the 'tilt' of each peddle. Does the tilt action of each peddle act in concert or independently ?

I've probably used the term axes as the plural of axis totally incorrectly here. The answer is 42 or pedals with toe brakes are awesome.
