HOTAS Warthog, anyone else having this problem?

Hi, Im just trying my luck, maybe someone else had this problem:

I got my Warthog a few weeks ago, worked flawlessly. Suddenly, the stick wont work anymore (throttle works fine still).
In device manager (win 8.1, 64bit) I get the following error:

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

A request for the USB device descriptor failed.

I tried all USB ports, also tried on my laptop (also win8.1), no dice.
Is that stupid thing really broken now, or anyone else have an idea on how to fix that?

thank you so much for your help

I'm sorry I can't help you.
I have a warthog and never saw that error.

I hope the manufactures can answer your question.
Good luck.

Get on to the manufacturers, I would hope that with a stick that expensive they would have good customer service or no one would risk buying them once word got out. Bought one last year and immediatlly registered it. Terrified it would turn into an incredibly expensive brick.

try uninstalling and then reinstalling the drivers
I'd unplug, then go into device manager and delete. Then plug it back in. The system should see it and re-initialize the device. HTH

Mine are working perfectly on Win 7 64 bit.

It's not a good sign that it won't work on the laptop either. If it were me, I'd try to get an immediate replacement from the retailer you bought it from first, because that might get you back up and running faster than getting it repaired. Failing that, get a replacement or repair service from Thrustmaster.

Tried all that of course. Sent them a mail :/
It may well be "broken", My Warthog stick stopped working once, then it was a solder on a cable in the stick that had broken off, just had to solder it back. This seems to be a common problem as TM support asked me to check just that. I believe it was on the connector in the base, as that is moving it creates some strain on the cables.
And not too long ago, the same happened to the forward hat switch in the throttle.
If you have a soldering iron you can fix it pretty easy.

Just as a quick update, for well over a week now TM 'support' is completely not responding to my emails. I had bought the stick via amazon. 3 mouseclicks later, a new warthog is on its way from Amazon, free of charge, I simply need to send the old one back to them (A. cover transport cost). Way to go!! :)

Somewhat related. How do you compensate for the lack of twist on the stick? For yaw control, that is.
Asking since I don't have (nor want :p ) pedals, but am seriously eying the Warthog...

I don't have and never had any drivers installed for my HOTAS Warthog.
It works flawless for 3 years now 1 year with XP and 2 years with WIN7 SP1 now.
Uninstall TARGET und type joy.cpl in startmenu, what does it say ?

I smell a hardware defect.

yeah pretty sure at this point its a hardware defect, thats why I return it and opted for a replacement product. Its certainly not related to TARGET (never used that tbh..). cant do the joy.cpl thing you suggest as Im at work atm, but will do so when I get home
thanks for the help!

sorry, didnt see your post.

for yaw, I use rudder pedals (google slaw device). But tbh, you dont really need that. Before I had the pedals, I simply mapped two buttons on the throttle to yaw, works just fine. I never liked rotating a stick anway tbh

I use rudder pedals.
You will not regret the Warthog in my opinion.
It's the best stick I've ever had.
Ordered an extension for it (20 cm) and having a ball.
