Obviously polls have been disabled. So instead, just post your vote as a comment. I'm a big boy so I can count the results.

Please no suggestions of Warthog or CH Products. I would love one of those, but, well, if I could afford them, I wouldn't be making this thread.

t16000m is about the limit of what I'm willing to pay. Nothing more, but I'm open to that model.

Either.

I had the Hotas X to start with and loved it, eventually the buttons and pitch started failing after 1800+ hours, which aint bad for the £30 I spent.

Upgraded to the T16000M FCS, which I am also loving. It's a clear improvement over the Hotas X, especially in the stick department.

Bottom line, if you've got the cash go T16000M, but you won't be disapointed in the Hotas X

That's good to hear from someone who's used both. The bottom line is important. Right now a £60 saving is huge.

I only heard good things about the T16000M and want one myself, but not find it locally. But have the old HOTAS X, and it is really good, but has its limits, and precision will bite as soon as you got into the simulation and more combat stuff of this and other games.

I'm fortunate that I only want it for Elite, and not other games. The truly hardcore flight sims are not my interest, and Microsoft Flight Simulator? I play on easy mode. :p

Put it this way...

I've always been a multi faceted Elite player, enjoying just to cruise around dabble in stuff, not really honing any skills so much. I certainly am not a veteran combat PvP or PvE combat player.

However since getting the T16000M, the extra control and precision given by the stick compared to the Hotas X has made me realise that even I can get to grips with FA-OFF and fixed weapons. Where as before I was struggling to understand how anyone could keep their ship straight for a few seconds.

So, if you are content on just cruising around Elite the Hotas X is fine, but if you want to improve your skills and flight the T16000M is far superior.

I cannot add any more. I own both sticks, and have exactly the same observation. Also am now enjoying combat very much. :)

I actually navigated through the hotas system the other night, it did make me laugh. I didn't stop to sight-see, I was in a rush. Probably an easter egg 'rare' consumberble at one of the commodity markets.

Hmm. Well, I would have enough in a few weeks.

Decisions, decisions. :(

One thing though and I don't know if anyone else would agree with me, but the Hotas X I was happy to play with on my lap or placed on my desk. The T16000M didn't feel comfortable, particularly the throttle which was prone to slipping on the desk, so I opted to get them mounted. Which obviously is going to cost you more.

I'll join the "i own both, buy the 1600" train.

I initially bought the hotas x because I wasn't sure how much I would like elite. After getting sucked into the game, and more proficient with it, the upgrade became a must for me. I think if you're going to be putting in a decent amount of time with elite, it's 100% worth waiting for the 1600.

edit: only thing I like more about the hotas x is that it has a stopping point on neutral throttle, but the 1600 doesn't. Not a huge deal, especially with deadzone, but I still wish I had that.
second edit: someone else mentioned t.a.r.g.e.t. software...what?! awesome! going to get that when I get home, I've been wanting to set exponential
also, hotas x does not have a great solution for vertical thrust imo... i love the rocker for lateral thrust that it uses but you can use the rocker on the 1600 if you want, but the index finger joystick handling lateral and vertical thrust is probably the more elegant solution (that's what it is by default on the 1600). trying to use horizontal and vertical thrust in quick succession/simultaneously on the hotas x does not work well at all ergonomically, and even if you did map all 4 to your throttle, that's a big chunk of your binds..

I second this entire post.

HOTAS X is good, but the T16000 is better enough and more to justify the extra £s.

T16000 is a good stick. I've used i since gamma and have no complaints.
Reasently upgraded it with a CH pro throttle, which is also very good.

I'll go against the grain and say Hotas x over T.16000M FCS - the throttle is vastly better - the centre for zero is a major thing for me. May also help that I dislike having lots of functions mapped to buttons on joysticks (or mice for that matter).

T16000 all rhe way.

Great budget stick. Used it a lot until upgrading to the x55.

Only £45 on Amazon.

I own both and in my opinion the 16000.m is way better. The hotas X was lacking buttons, so I always had to bind some keys on the keyboard. With the 16000.m i even have spare buttons to center the head tracking and for push to talk. The missing center point is no issue imho, because you can easily mod one with two magnets and some hot glue - Just did it yesterday and it feels awesome! :)

This is looking like a last resort.

Next time I have some time free, I'll be making a final effort to get the X52 working.

That failing, I'll be buying one of the titled products.
