Having visited Port Lympne (see https://www.aspinallfoundation.org/port-lympne/) and stayed in a beautiful shepherds hut I love the idea of including accommodation for additional guest experience and income for the Zoo. Port Lympne has a range available from huts and tents to rooms with a direct view into enclosures (e.g. you can have a bath whilst a lion comes up to the window). How could this be put into our beloved game? I’ve written about this before but have new thoughts.
My idea would be similar to restaurants. You’d have a facility you can put into your Zoo which includes a reception desk and rooms. These are connected as the main restaurant is connected with tables, and guests port into the rooms. For any room, you select which type of room you’d like - single, double or family. Once you select this the appropriate amount of beds would appear in the room you’ve placed with a space for a lounge area and an additional room for a bathroom. Perhaps for premium there would be a balcony area too. These would be simple designs so you could dress the room as you wish (similar to walkthrough exhibits) and boxless. This would give some freedom to integrate into buildings, glamping, etc.
There would be 3 sets of animations for guests - sleeping, using bathroom (just walking through a door into a separate small space) and relaxing in the lounge or balcony. All would be short cycles to make it possible and so you’d know the guest paths and could build around these. You’d be able to set the going rate and functional hours (e.g. if you just wanted these active during the evening hours or from late afternoon).
I think this would bring something new and refreshing to the game - there are so many creative ways to implement this into existing and new Zoo designs.
Similar to restaurants and boxless shops, it could also be used for Planet Coaster 2, if this happens so is a worthwhile investment.
