Newcomer / Intro Hotkey for Exit button on screens?

I've been pressing everything trying to find a way to exit screens like the Galaxy Map or the Outfitting screen without reaching down with my mouse and clicking the "Exit" word. Is there a hotkey for this or a way to set one?

Yep ESC opens the out of game menu.

Also wondering how to retarget my destination station after targeting around at other things enroute without opening up the System Map to do it.

Press the "open galaxay map" hotkey again to leave the galaxy map.

The default key to target the next stop on a route is 0 (zero). If it's not bound, bind it.

OPTIONS>CONTROLS>INTERFACE MODE>>>> UIBACK is the setting you are looking for. I don't know what the default is. I have mine bound to Backspace. That will Exit most screens in the game. Once in a while you need to use ESC for example when you have the communications mode open and you want to exit that. Normally ESC brings up the options menu.

I use 'N' and 'M' for system and galactic maps. You can just press the same key to go back to where ever you were before.

I use hem even though I have a good HOTAS, because any time I'm in there I'm using the mouse as well.
