I always just landed on smooth parts before. Now, with biological signatures ONLY occurring in areas where the auto-lander is completely helpless and manual landing is flaky as all get-out? There's areas where you need to get in to scan biologicals.
And your ship either has to spend 10 minutes TRYING to MAYBE find the one location where the picky treads will land? And that's a Phantom, I can't even imagine a big ship trying to land in those areas!
I wasn't willing to try dismissing/recalling the ship and seeing where it landed. IF it even landed, or just gave up and left, leaving me stranded until a Horizons relog.
Ships need a good option to do deploys and pickups without landing. Just hover, and exit/enter. It might save someone's butt, someday, if there was no takeoff delay in a combat situation.
