How about a bit of appreciation from the AI?

I am a miner. However whenever I see a mining vessel under attack, I like to step in and take out the culprits.
Wouldn't it be nice if the the A.I. that I just saved said thank you or at least showed their appreciation in some way? Even a snide remark about having it all under control, etc, would be nice.
Surely that would add a voice to those soles that are not going to "Take what you own", "Boil you to death", etc and bring more diversity to this universe.

It cant be that hard surely.
Ship Shooting at NPC miner. I shoot at the Attacking Ship = trigger appreciation message if miner survives.
Voila we have a bit more atmosphere and in my own mind I have helped a poor soul who actually appreciates it and can feel good about myself.

That would be asking a bit too much. The larger populations of planets don't even send you a group message if you send them medical supplies that they themselves asked for. Just a mission complete and credits transfered to your account. They could even have a simple list. Thank you (Commander name here)! Without those medical supplies we would have had a major crisis on our hands! Please come back and visit soon!" Or even "Thank you (commander name here! Without those (x) we'd be doomed!" Some things like this have existed well since the 1990's it's shame that more and more people are having to realize how thankless of a game they've build. It to me feels like we're just polygons in a video game. Our reward isn't even a pat on the back it's a mission complete sign and some credits in our account.

*whispers* Also may have to do with the fact that you don't actually see any physical NPC representation, not even a procedurally generated portrait from tens of thousands of faces.

NPC comms that are completely bereft of personality or any situational relevance
Stupid basic missions with no negotiation or realistic risk, challenge, or effects
AI that interdicts you in a shieldless Eagle, demands cargo, and starts shooting anyways (regardless if you have cargo and/or drop any)
Authority that will stop chasing an actual criminal and go after you in droves due to your 200c friendly fire bounty
Unresponsive non-combat NPCs
so on and so forth....

But hey - Powerplay! CQC!

Honestly I'm still disappointed. This game has no right to be called 1.anything. For all I see, it's still a beta. I get the idea of filling in content over time versus starting with a huge bunch of content after many delays and launches in modules (ala Star Citizen), but really, all the bugs, and things related to the AI are just inexcusable if they're gonna slap a 1.0+ label on this game. They had these things out of the back in the 90's.

I would like to see the NPC ships surrender completely when beaten(1), power down, and plead for their life with some sob story.

(1) Hulls should become stronger so we can destroy modules before the ships destruct. Disabling their weapons, FSD, cargo hatch (with all cargo released), etc. would add a lot to NPC combat gameplay.
