How about some set piece scenarios people can play?

Viper Pilots. Launch from station and repel all borders (with a Battle star Gallactica launch).
Traders. Gun running to hostile station.
Pirates. Attack station and board it.

But the best bit. Scenarios are kill and respawn timer events at particular locations.
You are scored on your kills, your hits etc.
You don't loose anything when killed.
Role playing furballs if you like.

Go on, might be fun!

Defending the 'Home' station would be a good event, Lave might be good starting place, I hear there are a few peep's around there that would enjoy a bit of this kind of action. Also the community events, get together a group of like minded individuals and develop the idea (roving defence force), but....

...You don't loose anything when killed. - Nope, that's not the 'Dangerious' way.

The only thing I could imagine (no "arcade-play") :

You sit in a Station and all of a sudden all lights turn red. Alarms sound.
Station announces : Under heavy attack! All docked fighter capable vessels Scramble!

Harmless traders hide inside their Hangars and wait it out....
All Players in combat ships scramble to help the Station out (or bug-out if they wish).

Scenario : large Pirate/Terror Faction is attacking the Station with a whole fleet of ship. In the future... Thargoid forces instead, maybe.

If you fight and return in one piece, you're awarded with juicy rewards for every kill - additionally you get a big Reputation boost (and possibly other goodies like Discounts etc.) with that Station.

Scenario would end after a certain time or all hostile Forces w/ reinforcements destroyed (really depends on how large and lasting you'd want to make it).

From what I have seen (and experienced) of the station defences - it can handle itself without me getting involved

Depends on the size of the incoming enemy fleet I guess. Also they'd probably want to initially confront any incoming threat beyond weapons range of the station.

Great idea! I'm assuming that the attacking forces have been able to disable the stations own weapons though. I don't really see how our small pea shooters would help it otherwise. :D

Or....join in with the attackers, especially if it was faction v faction.

I think the OP maker means something in addition to the single player training scenarios.
I don't see why not? A bit of training or fun. Not something that would affect the ''real'' online world in any way.
