We have engineers for all manner of things, why not have a few ones for each manufacturer of ships?
- Reduce the armour hardness for less mass of the ship for increased speed and jump range
- Boost the base speed of the ship at the cost of hull hp and armour hardness
- Increase the base shield and hull mass at a cost of reduced maximum speed and jump range
- Increase heat management of the hull at a cost of reduced maximum shield
- Increase armour resistance ratings at the cost of maximum hull hp
- Increase armour/hp at the cost of increased mass
- Increase mass lock factor at the cost of increased hull mass
- Increase maneuverability at the cost of maximum speed (Engine power shunted to maneuvering thrusters)
- Increase the efficiency of one core module at the expense of all the others (+5% efficiency on Thrusters but -1% on everything else)
