How am I supposed to navigate the galaxy map? (kbm)

I know this seems like a really dumb question, but bear with me...

I can open the galaxy map, zoom in/out with scroll wheel, holding down lmb rotates the map, holding down rmb scrolls vertically up/down, mmb does nothing.

Having pressed all the keys on the keyboard, with various weird and wonderful results, I've had to reach the baffling conclusion that I can't scroll the galaxy map horizontally. I've looked at the keybindings in the controls menu and the horizontal scroll is supposed to be on WASD, but these just navigate the menus to the side of the actual map.

Ideally I'd like to use middle mouse button for this missing scroll function, but I'm not even sure if this is possible since I can't find where mouse controls are bound to map navigation.

The galaxy map is extremely clunky to use in it's current state. I'd appreciate it if someone can talk me through rebinding the mouse button if that's possible.. Or is this a bug I've found? It's certainly debilitating enough for me to consider it a bug if there's no easy fix.

Thanks for reading. Hope you can help. :)

Left Mouse Button (Click) – select any system.
Left Mouse Button (keep pressed) –pitch and yaw moves on the map.
Mouse Wheel – zoom in and out.
Keep Pressed Right Mouse button – cursor will change into circle with arrows up and down, you can now move up and down.
Keep pressed both Left+Right Mouse buttons – cursor will change into circle with 4 arrows – you can now move forward/backward and strafe left/right.

:)

Jiminy I needed this information, thanks Forger and MB. An aside, I think it's classy the executive producer is in the forums and game details enough to swing by and drop tips on this level of minutia.

I think there is a lot still missing in the galaxy map. For instance, there is a route space but nothing is displayed in it. Work in progress assume. Maybe if you select a distant system it will tell you the systems you need to jump trough. Well if it doesn't, we desperately need such information ;)
