How are exploration scans valued?

I've checked the wiki and it's at the very least inaccurate and incomplete. So does anyone have an idea what goes in to determining the value of a scan and how much each "thing" is generally worth? I know that earth-like planets are worth significantly more than others and that ice/rocky planets and asteroid clusters are essentially if not completely useless but beyond that it seems almost random.
