How are you folks in the billions of credits?

Evening folks, I've just been having a nose around the place (engineers part of the forum) and I see a great many of you all with Billions of credits!!!:O

1. How have you gotten to such vast amounts when I'm barely breaking a mill a round trip? I'm trading but mostly use the missions on the board (more a courier service for goods really).[money]

2. How long though have you been playing - me, I just broke 1600 hours and got enough to cover my conda's insurance twice.

I've been playing for 2 years (over 1500 hours in-game). I have a little over 1 billion cr in cash. I've earned the majority of my credits exploring, but I've also made money doing missions, CGs, and trading.

I don't spend much; I fly an AspX with a fuel scoop and I've hardly ever faced a rebuy. I've never focused on earning credits, but they've accumulated nonetheless.

Money takes time, most have been playing since start, and accumulated a billion or two, others just scanned their way to the top

I've clocked 2 weeks in game, and only mustered 500m, taxi missions pay well I'm going to start doing those again

Iv been playing since day 1 & Iv mustered 2.5billion & Im approaching 45 weeks on my game clock.

Not that much really when compared with other cmdr's, but it'll do me for my game style.

How did I get it? I ran up 1.5 billion just doing the Ram Tah mission a few times, the other billion came mostly from exploration with a bit from trading.

My total assets near 4 billion, as Iv got a good fleet.

Iv no issues about keep repeating the Ram Tah mission, it was there to keep doing, so despite its buggy format, I kept doing it. Others will view it differently, but I'm not interested about what others think of how I play!

It seems most people with that kind of credits made them when it was easier to make. Earlier days of elite. Can't forget exploits too. Not many of those now a day. I recently got a cutter. Cost me close to 300 million credits to unlock it (donations). And i was half was there. But I'm trading with mine and making big credits is easy when you have a load of cargo and can defend yourself. I think it's gonna take the modern day players (like new from this year) a very long time to make that kinda money. Game is more grindier than ever. I was one of those player that started before you could even land on planets, but i wasn't extremely interested in the game then. Wish i had been. Now I'm struggling like most. Most I've seen by the way was about 9 billion.

Not really, up to the beginning of this year I was hovering around 300-500million, I worked up my ranking to get my Corvette & equip it. Then I worked up ranking to get my Cutter & equip it.
I went down to around 250million, then Ram Tah came along with the guardians mission. Once I got used to it, I could complete it in 2 to 3 days play, though I did spend quite some time helping out others to get the difficult data, during the buggy days.

I recently returned from a 2nd trip to Beagle point & got well over 500million just for selling that data, the improvement in credits for exploration is WAY better than the early days.

Edited the credit values

2 billions cash, maybe another one in ships, playing since day 1... all bounty hunting and missions. Lots and lots of missions. And game is much easier now, with lots of 1M+ short range passenger missions.

I've been playing since May 2015, so a little over 2 years now. I'm at 1.13 billion credits, with about 2 billion in total assets. Total game time is still under 1,000 hours. I started off making most of my money bounty hunting in Rez sites. I would average about 5 million per hour. Then I started doing the bounty hunting community goals which added to that total. After getting bored awhile (after passing 500 million credits) I started doing some trading / exploring which pushed me towards my first billion. Slow and steady is how I built most of my credits. Even after close to 1,000 hours of game time I am still under 10 rebuys total (and most of those came while learning the game the first few months).

I think i'm at the point where this phenomena starts. Got a tricked out Conda and FDL, and nothing else to spend credits on. These days, i'll log in if there's a combat CG, get to 50% and quit. The cash just piles up.

1. Trading, Smuggling, CG's, BH, CZ's, Passenger, and regular missions.... some exploring.

2. About 2 years...

Don't worry about credits... just have fun.

I'm currently flying my Sidey, doing missions. I normally can grab a few 1mil+ missions which I can do in five mins each. So if I stepped on it I would earn a little under 10 million or so per hour. CGs routinely give me 1-10 million for <1 hour of investment. If you are trading, play the BGS. Outbreak/famine systems will pay 4-5k per ton for really cheap commodities (grain, medicine; stuff that costs couple credits per ton). Trips are usually a few minutes tops, and with such cheap cargo the risk is also much lower. You should break 10mil/hr no problem.

Plus many of us were around during some of the brief Super Money Events, which periodically appear since day 1.

I have made my nest egg in many ways.

I was trader for quite some time. After working out some routes of my own I came across a 50-ish station loop that would net very good profits depending on the size of your ship. like 80-120mil a loop. Then I ran Imperial Slaves for a while and did well at that.

Then I ran missions for a while and would run anything, anywhere, for anyone (legal or not) and gained good rep and with that gained cash hand over fist.

Then along came the Shadow Missions out of Robigo. Those were not only probably the best non-combat fun in the game, they were quite profitable too.

After those fell out of favor I went back to mission running. Doing trade CG's came along somewhere in there as a diversion from my regular routines. Getting in the Top 10% can give a great bonus on top of the straight profits you make from the trade part of it.

Now I am doing Passenger Missions and am back to making crdits hand over fist that way. A good afternoon (with good rep at your base) can net 25-40mil in a few hours.

But at this exact moment I am just farting around the galaxy seeing some of the more interesting sights.

4.7bil assets - 3bil cash. King and Admiral. 12 weeks in game time since May 2015. Currently flying a Diamondback Explorer.

That is untrue. Making money has been made easier and easier with each new update. You seem to have forgot what the mission boards and bounties looked like at start. We had to play for weeks to get what we can get now in a single 15 minutes mission.

Got about 1400 hours on the pc account and about 1800 on the xbone, started more or less the time season two got into full swing. Between both accounts, I could probably gather up about half a billion all told. Im currently parked up about 3klys outside the bubble in a dbe and have about 270m in my wallet...my dbs is my only ship, I sold everything else so considering the time spent, Im one the biggest noobs in the game.

Ive also never used an exploit...well, apart from mission stacking but that was was fer rng coins. Money is all but meaningless to me...a means to an end, it serves a function, nothing more.

Long term plan was to explore sag a in a type 9...I can buy that in colonia and just ship out the A rated engineered modules. Plans like that require an initial investment followed by 6 months of not needing money, so one wanted to get through the intitial resource gathering as fast as possible.

Im not motivated or inspired by money...I play fer other reasons ^

Missions when allied provide funds, exploring now is an earner. I traded up but that was a year ago.

Eeewww trading, I can never make a decent profit from it and it's even more mind numbing than mining

Mine mine mine all day mine your brain away merrily merrily merrily life is thrown away

Some of us are selective about missions. I personally don't take anything that's got a low payout or a low credit per ton value.

I also rarely come back from a trip empty. If I don't have enough mission cargo, I pick up commodities I can sell.

If you find the right spots, you can set up a loop of two or more stations that will net you a fair profit. Just be sure the stock levels can support you, and always make sure you have a backup plan for when you either run it dry, or in the case of outposts, move up to a ship that requires a large pad.

If you're fairly good on your guns, finding a RES and farming that for bounties can add up fast.

There are all sorts of ways. You just need to venture out and about and see what's in your area. It's possible you're just in a 'weak' area, and need to find a system/starport that offers better missions.

Long range cargo and surface scan missions in the bubble. After 18 months I had 200m so I knuckled down and hit the missions board. A few weeks later I broke a billion. Had loads of fun, didn't grind at all, didn't exploit anywhere.

Not worth billions, barely 1.4B net worth. ~670M in cash. A pauper compared to many here. ;)

Been playing since January, doing missions/cargo runs and bounty hunting. Not chasing credits, per se, just ranking up to get the Fed and Imperial ships unlocked was my early goal. Currently doing a few passenger missions (made about 14M credits this afternoon) a little exploring, and of course bounty hunting. :)
