How can I be fined for murdering someone?

This has been bugging me for a while. While reading threads about PVP, pirating and similar topics.

How can I murder someone in Elite. As far as I am aware there is no way currently to murder a player or NPC.

Why you ask.

Escape pods.
When ship is destroyed, escape pod is launched transporting a still alive commander, to the most recent star port they docked at. And as we cannot at this point in time see this happen we cannot MURDER anyone.

So when blowing up a trader or any other ship I should not get the crime murder lodged against me.

I may be missing something but I cannot see what it is.

You should go back to EVE ONLINE again :D At this stage, no pod, no murder... none sense to 'murder' anyway, at the moment, as no implants or skills loosing like it is in EVE Online.

The escape pod you mention is for players only. I believe when you destroy an NPC ship you actually killing the NPC as there is no way out for them.

Play in Iron Man mode (not yet implemented) where player death can be permanent. Obviously, you also have to play in that mode as well...:p

Funny that as I have killed Bat Crazy Roy on a number of different occasions.

But if this is true then I am fine with murder on NPC ships. But blowing up another player should not incur the murder penalty.

Actually I am not 100% sure if it does. May have to do some testing later.

Actually I hope that sometimes blowing up NPC ship and NPC manages to escape with escape pod. Also by idea killing a player ship should spawn a escape capsule for short time which jumps out then.

When FPS goes live there must be some kind of death mechanics. Maybe you don't die but you will take a hit and need some serious medical care. I would like to see this take to a new level like in the Arma game, where you need medical treatment and maybe transport to a medical facility. Not at the start of course, down the road of the game.

Ah, you've just got to think HOLLYWOOD style.

Baddies go back to their boss. "He's dead. I saw that ship break into a thousand pieces!"

"You sure he's dead? That guy's been dead before."

"One HUNDRED percent sure, boss! No way did he get out of this one. The Feds are after me for murder now."

"Ahahaha, now NOTHING stands between me and my evil plans. Mua-ha-hahahaha."

"Gee, boss, your laugh sure is cool."

"I've got a good laugh coach..."

But WE know... our hero is NOT dead! He just pulled a fast one... :)

Yeah I believe a effective escape pod service is one of the pilot federation services, so npcs don't always have them. Point is even if it's not murder it could've been and in a setting as harsh as Elite that constitutes the same punishment.

I think Ironman is about as close a game mode as we are going to get to actually being killed.. if we turn a blind eye to said character being transferred into the all-group after it happens.

Maybe thats what the all-group is.. The afterlife. :D :p

If you weren't on a watch list before, you certainly are now after posting with that topic line.

Nothing to worry about honestly. Only 350 or so kills so far and only 2 or 3 were other players. And I'm pretty sure they attacked me. I was wanted though.

I don't really see this a a PVP game in the way that you just go about killing other players. My PVP will be in context.

Wanted players fair game but usually only if the bounty is worth it..
If pirating and the trader does not comply then they should have the ship blown up (As I cant kill them). Cant have them all thinking they can get away with not dropping what was asked for now can we.

If we ever get inter faction battles and other war type scenarios. Where the Say all the federation pilots are wanted in Imperial space then again fair game.

As long as it is in context killing/blowing up is fine by me.

I personally don't see too many people using Ironman mode really. People are generally too scared to lose al their shiney's.
