So I've been playing Elite Dangerous for awhile, and the VR support around the launch of the Rift and Vive is what initially drew me into it. I was a bit sad when Frontier announced that VR wouldn't be fully supported for Odyssey at launch, since it's always been first and foremost a VR game for me. I've taken a break from the game for a bit now, since it felt like I was being left behind by the future of where Elite is going, since VR may not be in that future. (I hope I'm wrong...)
I totally understand that supporting VR wasn't within the scope of their resources and priorities for launching the expansion, and can imagine all the reasons that they would want to get the gameplay itself just right before thinking about updating if for first-person VR as well. But I really hope they do add it, after launch. I'm not even competitive, I just want the experience of being there and exploring the full galaxy in VR.
I haven't yet pre-ordered the expansion, since I figured I'd wait until they actually had full VR support. But would it be better to show support for the xpac and get it now? I don't know if they will ever add VR support (they haven't committed to it, at least). Or should I let my wallet do the talking and hold off on buying it until they at least commit to VR support in first-person?
