Newcomer / Intro How can I check how many NPCs I killed _today_?

I thought this was a function of the session log, but I can't seem to get any further details than "Combat at XY".
Also today I don't have any missions running that might have kept count for me (and anyway I just killed anything that was "Wanted").

Is there a way of finding out how many I killed in this session?
(Purpose of the exercise is to figure out which weapon combo gives me the highest endurance, without synthesis.)

It's in the Codex in the Statistic section (RH panel), however, it doesn't always update straight away. I think it updates after you logoff, so you have to logoff and back on again to see the latest. You can also sign up with Inara.cz and sync your account with your Frontier one. If you wait 20 minutes after logging off the game then click on the "Import Frontier Data", it gets it most times, but, again, it sometimes misses a bit of data, so isn't 100%. Waiting a bit definitely helps get it all.

Yes, I found it! Thanks a lot. :)

Funny thing aside, it did list all the individual ships I destroyed, but in the box for "Total" is said 0, so I had to count them manually. Anyway, that helped a lot. :)
Also, it still lists the old bounty payouts, so now I have the direct comparison: what used to pay 1.3M now was 5.5M, before Power bonus.

To build on what d8veh wrote, the lag between your codex and Inara is perfect for this.

For example yesterday I hopped on to Elite and found my Courier still at the station my last mission had led me to. On the way back home I decided to have a bash at a high RES, and afterwards wondered how many kills it had been. So I looked at the codex and then Inara (before it updated) and it showed a delta of 22.

Of course you could always check before you start shooting. That works too :)
