Newcomer / Intro How can i do Coop Gameplay ???

Greetings,

i tried to do cooperative gaming with a friend this weekend. Sadly we found no way to do this. We started a group but did not see any chance to group up ingame to see in which Signal contact a friend went or where the friend is at all. There seems to be no way to trade with players or share money or loot etc. Is it anyway possible at all to travel together so you get attacked together. We thought to do one Transporter and one fighter but we even have problems to see us ingame as the contact allways disappears.

So my question: Is there any real cooperative gameplay at all? and if how? At the moment experience is very disappointing...

ok, if you can get into the same instance, which is random luck in a busy system, you can kinda fly together. when in supercruise you cannot see the same USS's, but if one of you drops out of supercruise the other player can target the low energy FSD wake you leave behind and use that to drop into normal space next to you. you do not need any special gear to scan a low energy FSD wake, just target it and it will work like a station or USS nav aid for you to get to the right place for a safe disengage.

really though coop won't take off till mid-march when the Wings update is due. that is all about helping us fly together to do missions and other stuff in small wings.

if you are playing in a group, and you can cooridinate to meet up externally (outside the game, using IMs or teamspeak or something) then once you have met in game, the comms should start to work.

So, if you friend is in Empire space, you are in Federation space, pick a system somewhere between you, fly there, meet at the nav point or something, and from that point on you should be ok even if you separate (until you logoff).

Open is a lot tricker preposition in busy systems.. the game is meant to instantize players in the same instance if they are friends if possible, but as i understand its flakey at best.

Patches 1.1 and 1.2 are meant to help with this, so bear with it until then.

Ok but how can i know if and in which Unknown Signal Source a friend went, there seems to be no Marker or something like that. And how can my friend see if i am attacked and join me.

I thought that would be what the private groups are meant for or what shall they give you, i mean there is no Squad system to fly together or so right ?

Elite is singleplayer-focussed, so there are only limited options for multiplayer. You can, for instance, meet at Extraction Sites, Checkppoints, Stations, Nav Beacons or Conflict Zones to fight together. AEDC has done this very often in the last weeks and it works pretty well.

Edit: Trading between players is not possible. Best method of getting rid of gold farmers ruining game experience. If you want to gift credits to a player, you can still do this by dropping cargo.

ok, both get into super cruise. then if you follow your mate when he drops into a USS he will leave behind a low energy FSD wake. it will be a white marker on the screen, use your target button to pick it up and you will get the range/speed readout similar to a station.

so you wont see his USS, but you will see where he left supercruise.

note this wake can be seen by any players in supercruise, so keep it in mind if you are playing in open and suspect there are PvPers about.
