How can I get a billion trading in a Sidewinder?

Yes it does. It's the lion's share of my current trade rank.
Haulage missions count as trading. So does non-sight seeing passenger transport. Mining is also trading.
The fastest way to get Trade Elite in a Sidewinder is to take the Guardian mission ten times, I would guess.

I made Elite explorer in a Sidewinder in one of my Alt accounts. Sounds like an interesting challenge.
Could always take some of the hundreds of missions to Colonia that are everywhere at the moment. I've been surprised at how many urgent outbreak/war/election/famine messages urgently need to get to Colonia in the next 7 days for millions in pay out rather than the odd 20K if you are lucky to a neighbouring system that might actually influence things before it's ended
I have Elite explorer rank. That was dead easy and only took a week. I'm doing combat at the moment, and I've just about reached Dangerous with 2000 kills, which took about 10 days, so hopefully another 25 days to reach Elite again. Trade rank is going to be a big problem with only 6T capacity or less if I have to go more than one jump. If I could make a million per trip, that's still 1000 trips, but there's no commodities that would pay a million anyway. Also, it's too easy to get killed in a Sidewinder, so you can't do much that's going to get ships coming after you. For any passenger missions, i'd need a fuel scoop, which will take me down to 4 passengers. Do they do missions for that few?
I was doing a lot of black box salvage missions in ceos / sothis to get sirius corporation rank when unlocking engineers, those were paying well, and we have had nothing but reward inflation since then so that could be an idea?

Pure trading, I suggest you need about 12 to 15 years playing every day. Hey haven't we been here before?
Doing the ram tah mission should get you there in about 100 hours of gameplay. Of course it would be less in a ship with some cargo capacity and jump range (AHEM.. DBX) but it should be feasible in a Sidey.
If you want to do it from actual trading, delivery missions and rare good trading would be best, but you are looking at an absolutely BRUTAL grind. Like 1000 hours or something.
