How can I quarantine infected dinos?

Spoiler ahead

If you're referring to the common cold issue in the JP Chaos, I just tranq'd them and let them sleep it off.

Not sure if that's how it's supposed to be done, but it worked.

There's no cure for the common cold, so if your dinosaurs contract it, you just need to let them ride it out. They should get better eventually :)

You can quarantine infected dinosaurs by moving them to a different enclosure, but if they've already infested other dinosaurs it might be too late.

Diseases not having cures is honestly pretty annoying. It basically ends up forcing your parks to have a "quarantine" area (if not multiple if there's more than 1 outbreak). I liked the system that JWE1 had a lot more!

I mean, that's how the common cold works: if your fever gets to high take a couple ibuprofen to keep your brain from cooking and ride it out.

I like the common cold thing. But in real science those things aren't contagious it's from getting too cold or inhaling toxins into the body. But I like it. Even if it is stressful.

Was mache ich falsch ?

I got lucky with Avian Pox and was able to quickly encircle my Nasutos with a fence because they were away from the herd, so fulfilled the research crtieria. It's a dumb system. Just another way Frontier made the game boring.

The common cold shouldn't kill your dinosaurs though, as far as I'm aware.

Maybe not but its still a terrible design choice no matter how realistic it is. There's nothing fun about being constantly told your dinos are sick and being unable to do anything about it. Especially since you have to send your vets to heal them anyway lest their health get too low.

WTB a rotating minigun turret that shoots medicine darts.

Worst thing is when this outbreaks in a large multi-species herbivore enclosure.

"A cold virus enters your body through your mouth, eyes or nose. The virus can spread through droplets in the air when someone who is sick coughs, sneezes or talks.

It also spreads by hand-to-hand contact with someone who has a cold or by sharing contaminated objects, such as eating utensils, towels, toys or telephones. If you touch your eyes, nose or mouth after such contact, you're likely to catch a cold."

Best thing to do is to tranquilize all dinos in the enclosure at once. Then put the ill ones or the ones which are not ill (if there are only one or two ill for example, you take these - or if the disease already has spread, you take the ones who are not ill yet) in a separate enclosure. It is important that both enclosures don't share fences. Essential is to be fast with tranquilizing.

Bizarrely, it's possible that a wild dinosaur might also catch the disease, which is what happened to me during the United Kingdom Hard Challenge. I already had the wild Nigersaurus, Nasutos, Dracos, and Ceolophysis in enclosures when Avian Pox (I think, it might have been another disease) was barreling through and the still wild Baryonyx caught it. I couldn't research the Dart treatment until I realized the Baryonyx was the only one not in an enclosure (again, because it was still wild), so I had to tranq it then build an enclosure for it, and 15 seconds later the Dart treatment became available.

I don't mind the common cold not being treatable. What I do mind is having to babysit that enclosure the whole time and constantly sending out MVUs to heal them so they don't die 'cause their health keeps decreasing at a high rate even though it's "just a cold." So I'd appreciate if we could either heal it directly or at least the dinos health wouldn't plummet like that from a cold so that you didn't have to send out MVUs the whole time. I think a simple hit to the dinos appeal should be enough, it has an effect on the park but doesn't force the player to focus on nothing but those sick dinos.

As far as the quarantine thing goes I think it's really bugged, or at least the timer is. It happened several times to me now that even though all the infeccted dinos where seperated the timer simply wouldn't start counting down. In the end some of those dinos actually died because it didn't work and so I couldn't get the treatment researched and the MVUs were too slow to keep up with the rapidly decreasing health of the infected dinos >.>
