I’ve got one HDMI port on my GTX 1070 8Gb and another that is on my motherboard. It seems the one on my motherboard doesn’t work or is locked as when I plug my monitor in to it I get no picture on the screen.
I’m about to receive my first HMD headset, the Oddessy, and would like to plug that into the GPU and run my monitor from the other HDMI port so that I can lift off my headset when needed and have everything on screen.
I’ve seen recommendations to go into the BIOS and simply unlock the port but I can’t seem to find an option for this anywhere. I’ve never used the BIOS before, total IT noob, so am being very careful not to change anything but I have scrolled through and can’t see anything that would seem to relate to allowing me to do this.
I’m running Win 10 on an i7 6700K if that makes any difference to where I should be looking but, and I’m assuming here, does the layout/setup of the BIOS depend on manufacturer?
Is it recommended to even run a screen and headset at the same time or should I just run one at a time (perhaps performance would be better?)
I imagine I could use an HDMI cable with a fitting at the other end that would fit one of the other port types on the GPU.
Essentially I’m a little lost as to the best thing to do so any advice from some of you tech savvie guys would be a huge help.
Thanks
