How can system security rating change?

Eg. Chertan in game is currently LOW, but its always been HIGH: https://eddb.io/system/3294

Could it be to do with the pirate attack?

Can you make this permanent? Low security lets you do illegal missions with least hassle (and some of the dumbest carebear ones that i like are).

Thanks for any tips.

There's no way to make security changes permanent afaik, but yes, states affect security rating for their duration .

Last time this got mentioned, apparently pirate attack didn't do anything, but this is the second time it's been mentioned along with a security downgrade.

Others will know better than me, i usually just ignore security level anyway.

Cnb (related to security) can come and go. Normally when system ownership changes, but sometimes just due to a state change (probably). This is extremely rare, and rarer for anyone to notice, so I can't say what states do it.

Admitted it took months for me to apply the logic.. but after the slap in the mission board that was crime and punishment, there was a compromise through the hassle.. simply take all your missions from low sec systems. I can live with that.

Since then ive been very keen on the security state :)

Intrigued to know what you mean by this?

My interpretation is you're referring to how some missions can make you wanted in the jurisdiction that owns the mission board you're running missions out of.... but low security isn't going to fix that (as lawful factions can still have jurisdiction in low security, hence, crimes still committed).

But, yeah, not entirely sure what you mean there, so intrigued to know.

Well, there's an interstellar factor where you pick and drop off your missions. You have a bounty, but can clean it on the spot, rather than having to find a low sec system on the way home. Yeah you probably can't take missions against the controlling faction sure.

No, but it's easy to become wanted by the controlling faction, if the owning station is present in multiple systems. "Planetary Scan Job" is a good one for that, though silent running resolves that. Wetwork and Spec Ops missions go without saying.

Personally, it's never a big deal for me, but what you've said makes sense.

Really silent running prevents you from getting a bounty from planetary scan jobs? How? Be silent running when you're doing the cheat? Sounds like a bug, though i like those missions enough to give it a go next time.

I wish those were more interesting, instead of just scanning and setting off a bomb. Skimmers were more interesting. /sigh

Also im in a phase of exclusive multipurpose (ie, all my ships can do combat) so actually don't mind when there's a wrinkle or two to mix it up.

Nah, pretty sure it's legit. It's the same mechanic that allows you to crack cargo hatches on Megaships without becoming wanted. Note; all it does is prevent the bounty from accessing the terminal. If you hang around in a trespass zone too long, you'll still get a bounty.

Pretty much my MO most of the time. I've gradually wound-back the combat effectiveness of my Krait to include a bunch of things like hatchbreakers/collectors and the like. Wondering if I should go back to my old Python though, and then I can include repair/refuel limpets for scenarios.

Strictly no-go for wing assassination missions though.

Really? From the early days when it never seemed to work for anything i don't even have the button bound, but sounds interesting. I bet it doesn't work for multi megaship turret missions?

You can on a krait if you lose the fuel scoop (link). A recent innovation from developing my expedition fleet, with a carrier your rp ships can get away without engineering or scoops to make it a little more keen.

Even with a full sized core, you still get 200 and a bit ly range (enginnered) so its not that bad.. you only need a pit stop when crossing the bubble. Having said the krait seems very thirsty in supercruise, you can almost watch it go down, so if you're running on fumes you need to run. Been enjoying no fuel scoop play so far anyway :)

I've been meaning to try it on some different missions. I remember trying silent running when it didn't work... which is why i think megaship missions changed it. It might be accidental , but it's still better.

I don't think it works for combat actions though... otherwise everyone would do it for PvP.

i haven't used scoops in forever. .. apart from passenger missions which i don't take, nothings ever more than 20Ly away.... with 10-20 missions stacked, i run out of ammo first.

I still miss the pre- transfer days, when penetrator fits w/ an extra fuel tank made more sense. It was also an important part of CRCR-less thargoid mat hauling.

I'll post my current fit in a bit...

Haha, that's a good point. I used to do robigo runs with fuel tanks... didn't know what a fuel scoop was at the time. I had to stop at the one station in the middle and barely made it.. made them even more nervous. So much fun. Yeah before that i had a scoop and reinforcements. Probably an interdictor for combat missions.. but i still haven't done one of those yet.. never used one.
