how close can you get to a star? ...pretty damn close! (pics)

So I was doing some fuel scooping in some remote system, when i saw a blip on the radar coming towards me.
Knew it was going to be an interdiction, but spent too long scooping before trying to get out of there and he grabbed me.
The interdiction didn't last long. About 2 seconds in, I got the "Too Close! Emergency stop!" message, and got dumped out of SC.
The interdictor was gone (hopefully flung into the star :) ), but i was left about as close as you can get. Fortunately I wasn't taking any heat damage, so got to spend some time looking around.

My first view after getting dumped out of SC

a couple more shots while cruising around the surface...

It was really fun to just watch it. The solar flares and magnetic loops popping up and moving across the surface. Cool stuff!
Thankfully there were no flares directly under my ship. :D

The stars are one of most awe-inspiring sights in ED. The first time I saw one at close range I couldn't believe my eyes. Those solar flares are definitely something aren't they?

Yes, they are quite amazing. I saw what looked like a pulsar the other day (although it was only identified as a blue-white star), but it had this long white plume on one side and was spinning really fast, so you got that flashing effect. Wish i took a vid of that one... pics just wouldn't do it justice.

Yeah, they are awesome. Now try "being there", in the Rift.
It's on my list of things to get. I'm waiting for the consumer release next year.

The quality isn't great because it's hard to film these things without getting whited out by their brightness, but here's one I found in my exploration:

Cool.
Here's a pic of the one i saw. It was spinning about the same speed as yours (maybe even a little faster), but it had this big 'V' plume. If you backed up a few Ls, you really got the 'pulsing' effect. :)

I may not have a desire to race to elite but I definitely have a desire to race to an explorer status! A tricked out Cobra would do nicely I think! I cant wait!!!!

Well that sucks. :(
What the heck does "body exclusion zone hit" mean?? Almost sounds like some error message. :S

It was either the game itself didn't want me getting to close to the star for some reason or that my ship was trying to keep me from crushing myself from gravity.

But based on the behavior of my ship I believe it was the former. The 2 little clouds are the clouds left by your, even though I was at max forward thrust.
