How close...

... can a gas giant be to a star?

Last night I happened across a Class III Gas Giant that is only 13.3ls distance from its star. Never saw one this close before.

Is this within the realm of scientific feasability?

Anyone seen a GG any closer than this?

Also despite blue being the predominant colour of Helium/Hydrogen GGs this one is brown.

there's one in the bubble at ross 780 it has a quite a high orbital eccentricity, it was at its closest point to star last week end (It's actually half in the star at this point) unfortunately I forgot and missed it :(, it has an orbital period of 30 days so I'm going to have to wait 3 weeks for it to get back to its lowest point, will announce it on forum if I remember! :D

This one is pretty damn close.

Edit: 5 ls or less, don't remember exactly.
