How did ED deal with ship prices in Alpha/Beta?

In the post-release betas they have often been 1/10th of normal prices.

I'm not sure what they were in alpha, but they weren't particularly cheap in beta 1 to beta 3...considerably more expensive than they are now, relative to current earnings. Beta 1 had plaeholder figures for everything. While beta 2, 3, 3.9, and Gamma 1.0x generally had the same ship prices as now.

God remember those days. I'd bought my first HOTAS several months earlier expecting to use it playing STAR CITIZEN! Found out about the ED alpha and played that ever since. Those heady days in alpha and beta were marvelous.

I have to agree that the Alpha and early Premium Beta period was Elite Dangerous at its best. The Economic Sim hadn’t been dummied out due to players whining on having to haul base commodities to regenerate the high profit ones, Supercruise was simulateously faster (for hands on Pilots) and less forgiving of poor technique, Monty Haul Campaign rewards were the result of credit exploits rather than the norm, and newbies could be expected to stay in small, cheap ships long enough to learn from their mistakes.
