How did INRA capture Thargoids?

Hi, Im a new poster. I usually just lurk these forums and consume all the lore I can from you guys. I haven't read any of the
novels (yet), and I never played the original frontier games.

I was just visiting the INRA sites, specifically Klatt Enterprises, and was going through the logs there. In them, they mention
that they "have access to an intact Thargoid ship and a living specimen. I plan to test the mycoid on both." On the later logs,
it looks like they managed to "acquire" another specimen, not a ship, but a creature. Is this explained on a novel or somewhere?
How did they capture these? Thanks in advance.

I think thargons could be scooped if the mother ship was destroyed in the original elite but not entirely sure as I haven't played it, I'm going off what I've read.

The Lore also says there have been encounters with Thargoid and somewhere i read that the Thargoids even build a translation device and haded it over.

The drones in some barnacles and unknown structures are small in size, meaby he refers to one of them.

Hello!
We don't really have that much info on what shenanigans INRA was up to specifically. While a bunch of things were detailed in previous games, ED does not necessarily follow the old lore (ED is a reboot essentially), so right now if you've visited the bases and listened to the logs, you know pretty much everything! It's worth looking up the GSC Sarasvati logs (or going visiting!) because that's got another bit of the post-war Thargoid story, there's also little bits in the Galnet articles (use search on this page)

There are more INRA bases out there to find though, definitely. DB said in a recent interview that we can discover 'what happened to INRA', so it seems like we'll eventually be able to reveal the whole story :)

My speculation is that it's very likely at least one Thargoid ship crashed during the war (it lasted for 25 years!), and they probably were able to recover live Thargoid(s) from that. I can't imagine it was easy, they are supposed to be something like 10+ feet tall!

When a mothership or control center is destroyed, all nearby thargoids become inactive according to lore. Its a hive-mind kinda thing.

To be precise.
