How did stations, ships and microwave ovens get built in the Elite universe...

...when there's no dedicated, huge mining ships out there? How much material would it take to build the biggest station or supply people? Any business owner would have their own fleet mining, processing and selling!

You know the way some of the larger extraction economy stations are orbiting metal worlds? I reckon there's a connection there.

We have had a station and a capital ship built in the game since the launch. Community goals were announced and we commanders supplied the materials. Didn't take long either :)

The Beta guys did it all. Thousands of them over a 1000 years, mining, refining, processing and constructing. Ships, stations and everything thing else we see and enjoy today. Thanks guys for all your hard work, give it another 1000 years and who knows; it may all work properly?

The stations, outposts, spaceships - literally the whole ED universe's building works are completed and finished.
