How difficult to add a video interface in game? Make Galnet news as video type which plays in the information panel.

An idea just pops up in my mind.

Galnet news is mostly submitted by the community.
What If I make a "news video" and submit it to the Dev, and it will pop up in-game and plays on the information panel (the top right) after I switch on a button?

I am thinking if it is possible to inject this feature. And perhaps it would also include other player-created content.

yes i wish they add video or more voice work in the game and i wish we can find crash ship with voice logs why everything must be in text

Considering how much stuff is going on in the game, they wouldn't be able to simply record every single voice line for everything. This means they will have to use voice synthesis software for nearly every application, which is pretty difficult to get right even at the best of times. Maybe it's on the roadmap somewhere, but getting voices for most of the stuff in the game I can see being pretty hard on the Dev resources.

I would help out the voice acting if it is needed tho. The station voice is a good addition to the game.

Are you guys serious?

Who cares about galnet anyway, it's all just propaganda.

This would be a massive waste of dev time and effort for little more than eye candy for those that cbf reading.

If fdev wanted you to be able to fly and read galnet at the same time. They could have, but they didn't.

Don't you know BGS is part of the gameplay?

I love it. Imagine having the option to have the local Galnet news and info voiced to you with some pretty graphics as soon as you entered a system?

I really like this idea. I think it fits into the gameplay perfectly. We have long distances to travel. It makes sense the CMDR would be doing something productive while coming in from supercruise to a station or planet.

JUST had this discussion with my group of friends 2 days ago.

During the conversation a friend told me that they do fully voiced news on radio sidewinder.

I havent checked it out yet myself so im only relaying what i heard

While i think video news may be askimg a bit much, being able to listen to the news in game (without needing an unofficial app) would be cool.

They could even just hire the radio sidewinder guys, and stick a simple link to their podcast in game. ANYTHING would be better than what they have

Actually, Galnet news is submitted by the player so content is not a concern imo.

Jump into a system with galnet news videos for that system (npc/fdev made or player groups) and they play through (if more than one current) automatically in your top right info panel.
Even text based galnet news should do that now on entering a system, maybe after a minute to determine your not just jumping off again. Would certainly make the current system situation easier and more readily in players minds if it did.

EDIT: exactly as vinnie Jones' video.

Yes this!! And it enables player to submit video galnet news!

If players are able to upload video "news feeds" that play in-game, that is something I'd either never look at, or skip through as quick as possible, even if that meant turning the monitor and sound off while it played.

I can't think of a more stupid, potentially hated idea if I tried.

Why? why is it stupid? Not everyone can do content up to the acceptable quality. In this day, when everyone and their cat uploads to youtube, you don't get to see the 1,000x more utter rubbish that gets uploaded. Now imagine, 100,000 people, with no idea on production values, just uploading stuff to Frontier "Hey, put my innane drivel on your Galnet feed". Frontier would just hit the delete button.

But hey, I am sure someone will quote me, and reply how I am wrong and an idiot for thinking this sucks.

Do you know the Galnet News we are having now is submitted by player?

What I am suggesting is that, the Galnet News we are having can be read/watch in game instead of our web browser. They could be either video format or text format.

Like the news on the telly, I never watch Galnet. Never. Oh, and Alien you are spot on. It'll be a cringe fest of galactic proportions.

Stay classy...

I have it in my car now. I can drive along, access the internet and have it read the news headlines out to me, then read out the main body of the story, with pictures. So if I can do it today in my car, it should be easy to do in the future (outside of the engine technicalities!)

GalNet is a profiterable way to know about systems with pvp activity, combat or trading, anyway, some text is necessary to grab those rare names.
Do you know how much real money cost make some decent videos, how many people working needs that?. With the actual networks problems with wings, really you want to open GalNet and logout  ?.
Other player are asking Frontier to implement Wormholes ingame, what if every player ask for a different stuff to put ingame?.
