How do I activate VR with the old non-steam launcher?

I just got a Valve Index and wanted to play ED using it, but I cant figure out how to get it to run in VR mode whithout having it in the Steam VR category since I still have the OG Launcher

I have an index, I find better performance using steam vr supersampling rather than in game HMD quality level

As far as I know valve index needs a vr engine, and steam vr is it.

I dont have an issue works ok, I just select elite play in vr from steam to play.

It opens the same launcher, but changes the setting and open a smaller 1024 x 768 version of the game on your desktop. At the same time it appear in index.

Within ED change the 3D option in graphics to HMD Headphones, should automatically launch the game in Steam VR.

Or better yet use Dr Kaii excellent launcher here:

I have found, the index quality does seem to change if you adjust the res of the small window, up a little, only a little but enough to reduce aliasing
