How do i connect trees with walkable pads (above ground)

Hi,

I'm just new to the game, (finally saved enough money for a computer that can handle the graphics) so i'm still figuring things out.
I want to make a group of trees with tree houses and viewing points and want to connect them with a pad (of the ground), so people could actually climb the trees and go from one to an other.
Kinda like Peter Pan i beleive in Disney Land Paris.
Is there a way i can do this and make the pad look like a wooden bridge or anything like that??
I'm not good with the controls and building stuff yet, so if it is possible, please explain this so a real beginner understands.

that^ is probably what you are looking for, except that the guests cant walk up that one. making paths up into a tree might be a bit more work though, and you should also know that guests will not walk a path that leads nowhere, if you don't have shops in the tree the guests wont have a reason to climb it, so you would probably need very very large trees

Anyway, as Creaper implies, the only way to get a tree big enough for guests to climb is to build the trunk out of terrain and then use full-size tree scenery pieces as the leaves and small branches.

It would probably work best to build the path first, like making a spiral staircase and then building a hollow trunk around that, then adding paths branching off of that which would be supported by the main boughs of the tree (also made of terrain). Then you could build structures off of that, such as the shops necessary to lure guests up the tree to begin with. Adding the scenery trees to make the leafy branches would be the last step.

Making the paths first and then the tree was something i would never think about, but seems like a very good idea.

No problem.

Be warned. The reason I suggested doing at least part of the path first, such as the stairs going up into the tree, is because paths and terrain don't play well together. If you do the terrain first, often you can't put a path there because it's too rough. And you often can't smooth the terrain without deleting the adjacent section of path because the game won't let you edit terrain within like 2m of existing paths.

OTOH, if you level the terrain first, then build an elevated path (including ramps and stairs) above it, you have another issue. When you use the pull tool to raise the terrain, it will always leave a gap of about 2m below the existing elevated path, and also about 2m on either side of it. Plus, if you want to make a tunnel, it will leave a gap of about 5m above the top of the path.

Soi, say you want to make a giant hollow tree with spiral stairs inside, then side paths going out along the main boughs towards shops. The process I recommend would be as follows:

1. Level the terrain over the whole area where you want the tree to be.

2. Build the spiral staircase. I would give it a fairly large radius so there'd be an open shaft up the center of the tree. I would also disable path supports because in a spiral staircase, the lower part will block the supports of the part above anyway. You'll have to go back later and build fake supports out of scenery and building pieces.

3. Once the staircase is high enough for the 1st level of shops, make a level platform leaving room to continue the spiral stairs to a higher level if desired. Also make the start of any side paths you want to go out along main boughs, but don't take them very far.

4. Using the pull tool of the terrain editor, make the hollow tree trunk around the spiral stairs, up to about the level of the flat platform. At this point, do all the work on the inside of the trunk at this level because it's still easily accessible. Sculpt and paint the inside of the trunk, add the fake path supports and any added decorations and lights you want.

5. Then start working out along the main boughs. Probably run the paths first, then build the boughs under them, remembering you'll aways have gaps between the bottom of the path and the top of the bough. Then repeat the process for any higher levels. Finally add the scenery trees for leaves.
 
what if the tree was so big, the entire park could fit inside the hollowed out trunk with some of the rides being in its branches

I had the idea of making the whole park a "Jack and the Beanstalk" thing. Dig a hole as deep as possible, then build a tall skinny column as high as possible, with various rides and shops mounted on leaves sticking out the side. But after doing some terrain sculpting on a much smaller scale, I decided this would be WAY too much work.

thanks for the idea of building a giant tree and creating rides within.
I'm trying that right now and seems to work, but i do'nt know how high i can get yet.
