Newcomer / Intro How do I find a specific faction for on-foot raid missions?

Hiya folks! Just took on a raid mission in a starport, and having some trouble finding my targets.

My mission is to exterminate LP 844-28 Purple Council members, but it doesn't give me a destination. It only tells me to look for settlements controlled by this faction.
The mission DOES target the LP 844-28 system for me, but no further than that. I've spent over four hours, but only found ONE settlement in the entire system controlled by this faction. Thing is, every time I go there no matter how many times I relog, jump out and back into the system, all the settlement members are DEAD. The first couple of times, there were NPCs with bounties there, but even those don't spawn anymore. Just dead settlers.

So how would I go about finding a different settlement controlled by this faction? Kind of a stretch to just look at random surrounding stars and examining all their planets, given there's.... a lot of them..

There is no in-game tool to search the galaxy map or system map for specific factions.

There are third-party tools, like Inara.cz. According to the Inara.cz page for this faction, they are only present in the LP 844-28 system, and they only own the one site (Tanaka Metallurgic Claim, which is presumably the one you've already found).

Third-party sites are only as good as the data contributed to them, so it's possible the faction exists elsewhere and nobody in Odyssey playing with EDD or some other third-party app that contributes data to Inara has visited there yet. But it seems unlikely, even at this early stage of Odyssey activation.

These "dead" people you keep finding... have you tried shooting them again, to make sure they're dead?

Hahaha, yes I did in fact land on Tanaka Metallurgic, and out of minor frustration put a few bullets into one of those corpses. Didn't move an inch, that one.
Thanks for the pointer; I had forgotten to turn on EDMC which is indeed a good idea now that there's tons of new stuff! I'm scouting nearby systems to see if ther got any new settlements generated recently
