how do i find out what i have discovered?

so I made 150lys trip to sell some rares and used my newly purchased 1.5mill astronomical scanner on route, on arrival at my destination on selling my data I was told congrats on being the first to discover such and such. my question is where can I see what has been discovered by me and what happens with that info do I get a thing named after me ? or just a mention in the description. I am unable to say what I discovered as a mixture of tiredness and butterfingeredness meant the congrats message was whizzed past without proper scrutiny.

Besides looking at the Galaxymap to see your nametag on the planets you did discovered.. You cant.

A true explorerer always keeps a logbook up to date.. :D

bah thought as much thanks for the answer I will keep better records in future. though does it say discovered by or is it named after me i.e agentbeefs star.

well you really know how to brighten someone's day.lol gotta find it and take a screen shot before it's gone.

There is a huge chance your system is already discoverd by a PC player because its fairly close located.

Im a explorerer aswell, but now, i just do bulletin board missions till have have 15 million credits to outfit my ASP to ultimate explorer ship..

I think you have to travel to one of the Galaxy Spiral arms, or to the other side to make a good buck with exlporing.

Though Frontier said that till now, XboxOne and Pc combined, only explored 0,2% of the total galaxy.

I can believe that, how long do we have until it's wiped do you think?

so, must i scan an star or planet or its enogh to scan once with the discovery scanner to get a nametag on a star / planet?

Unless you get very lucky (which I did once) and stumble upon a rare previously unexplored planet, I think human colonised space and its immediate halo of stars is pretty much filled in now, but that still leaves plenty left outside! However, you have to get to a proper exploration ship (ASP or Diamondback) to get the jump distances to get out there and find the truly unknown systems. It's quite a nice game mechanic as it is not easy and feels satisfying when you are first to some object. I did a couple of long sweeps out into the black before I found my first totally unexplored system, high up towards the galactic "ceiling" above Spica. My guess is that at the moment you need to expect to travel 500+ light years from Sol before you start encountering unclaimed bits of systems (previously unscanned planets the original finder couldn't be bothered with) and then with luck a fully unexplored one. But you're making money just filling in our own map so it's profitable even if you don't get your name on a lot of new claims. Good luck!

Yes, you must visit the planet and scan it. If you have a detailed scanner you get more money for this so that is a must if you're making a career of exploring. And also it helps very much to have a long range exploration scanner. The planets that are left in "uncompleted" systems tend to be distant ones that the original explorer didn't identify or didn't bother to travel to.
