Newcomer / Intro How do I find "Wanted" NPCs for missions?

Hello fellow Commanders.

It's been a week now I am picking missions (with rewards > +120K credits) to find and take down wanted NPCs. In every mission there are 1 to 3 systems I have to look and find those NPCs.

Every time I spend more than 3-4 hours of game play and I can not find a single NPC. I am going to every system mentioned in the mission, I spend almost an hour scanning ships, I take down several wanted pilots but I never managed to find that single one for the missions.

Am I doing something wrong? Is there a specific tactic to complite those missions?

It is not fun anymore, plus I am loosing rep with some factions ...

I would appreciated any help / advise on the subject.

Mission targets are hiding in USS (Unidentified Signal Source).

Go to one of the systems in the mission and find a USS.
Drop and see if your target is there, it not, repeat.

Oh, they aren't necessarily wanted by the way.
It's an assassination contract.

A friendly word of advice: The targets of >120,000 CR assassination contracts are usually Elite Anacondas. Be sure you can deal with those before signing on. :)

DoubtOutLoud thx for the info. Elite Anacondas ... sounds hard to take them down. I am flying a Vulture fully equiped (A maxed grade devices). To be more specific, A4 shield gen, C0 shield booster, Militare hull and hull reinforement, Beem Laser C3 and Multicannon F2, both gim. DoubtOutLoud do you think I have a chance against Elite Anaconda? Any tips for fighting them?

If you know how to fly that Vulture, it's not a problem.
Stay on the Anaconda's tail as much as possible, literally inches away if you can.

Make sure you have enough for your rebuy. Any time I've tried one of those my shields and thrusters are taken out as soon as I realise I've found the right ship. They don't mess around.

Try this method.

Accept the mission if you know you will log on the next day.
Forget about it and go do something else in the game.
When you log on the following day, violia, the NPC will appear when you go to that system.

Works every time for me.

I have just taken out my first one of these. I won't kid you - it wasn't easy, but it is immensely satisfying to be left hanging in space - shields down to less than one ring - with bits of what once used to be an ultra-kitted out ship exploding all around you.
I was in a Viper - gimballed multi-cannons on my medium points and turreted beam lasers (set to Target Only) on my small points. Those turreted beams can really dish it out.
3 pips to Sys (for shields) and 3 to Wep to stop beams over heating - forget about engines. Get in close ( and I do mean close) and stay there if poss - I had to come away once when my shields went offline and do a runner until they built up again - 4 pips to engines then and 2 in Sys. Make sure you have a KWS fitted and use it before engaging as I got more as a bounty - about 270k I think - than I did from the mission payment.
Don't forget to taget his power plant - again before engaging.

Wished someone had given me that info about a month ago. Soon as I popped off he hit my thrusters with one shot and crippled me. The just toyed with me after that, knocking my shields until they depleted then left me alone until the recharged then hit me again. This went on till I decided to pop the canopy and destruct.:eek:
