How do I get materials for weapon upgrades?

Greetings,

I am coming from console and haven't played ED for at least one and a half years.
I am trying to upgrade my intimidator but cannot get the materials.
I tried to get them from caches in settelments but theres nothing useful in them and I constantly get penalties (and shot at).

It is pretty frustrating as I do not have as much time to play as I used to and just try to get my weapons and suit to a playable state.

Can someone share some secret tips?

Take salvage and restore/reactivation missions. Once settlements are powered up, not only are goods and materials available, but the data ports are actives. For the salvage missions, your SRV will show whether the power regulator is good or not. If good, grab and relog for another. Larceny missions provide weapon schematics.

Mission rewards also provide materials, but not the engineer unlock ones.

To be honest, unless you want a very specific weapon and loadout, don't waste your time with grinding mats in EDO. G3 weapons and suits can be bought at Pioneer Supplies and are more than enough to handle everything, from High CZs to missions.

There is so much G3 gear available, including good stuff. Get on the sharing thread and get a suit with night vision asap.

Aria‘s Mine and Mitchels Resort in Iah Bulu are perfect for looting as it’s an Anarchy system. With some practice once you have switched the alarms off it’s really easy. Stealth Boy has some good YouTube stealth videos to help get to the alarms.
