I just read on google that anybody who got thrillseeker should already have the golden cap, so maybe this is a bonus only for non-thrillseekers? I hope I didnt miss out on anything

Yes, I did.
Thrillseeker gets golden cap for their avatar, enter details as above pic when you first log in to full release you get the golden mechanic hat. Either way, nothing to be overly concerned about.
