Engineers How do I get the invitation for Marco Qwent?

Hi all,

I am trying to get the invitation for Marco Qwent to later on unlock Professor Palin. I spent a couple of days in Sothis doing missions for Sirius Corp. and repped up to Allied. I also got the Sirius permit (I am actually there right now). How do I get the invitation for Qwent, though? I thought this would come through a mission, but there is no mission on the mission board relating to the engineer... I have tried mode swapping to Solo, Open and Private Groups. I have tried to restart the game entirely. I have tried visiting different stations in different systems. But nothing, no engineer mission. Am I doing something wrong?

Cheers!

You can get the Marco Qwent invitation mission (you get the invitation after you complete that missions) only from home system of Sirius corporation which is Sirius system. If you look at the page for Marco Qwent in game on page for engineers it say that the invitation can only be get from there. You can grind as much rep on sothis as you want but the mission will never spawn because it only spawn at Sirius system. I did this mistake too (i have been allied with Sirius corp over a year and was thinking why the mission doesn't spawn and then i noticed that it says it can only be get from sirius system. Docked there and there it was on mission board. You may refers the mission board couple times but the missions should spawn there.

I found doing a few additional Sirius missions seemed to spawn the mission (even though I was allied with Sirius), BTW I'd take missions with modular terminal as reward if I were you ;) good luck!

But I AM in Sirius... I guess I will refresh the mission board endlessly and picking easy to finish missions... But siriusly, this ain't no fun for anybody!

Hmm. Its some time since i did mine. Some bgs state could blog the mission from spawning? (won't be surprised if this is the chase). Is there any space station or surface settlements that is controlled by sirius corp? I read some time ago that sirius corp lost control over space station and only controlled settlement in sirius system. In past with permit missions (i know that permit is different than invitation to engineer) have had problems because faction giving permit have lost all stations outside the permit locked area. If there is still station/settlement controlled by sirius corp try that.

I am not at home so can't check if there is any settlements controlled by serius. Maybe you just need fill bug report, ask support or wait for afternoon in Europe so more people see this thread and maybe someone know the answer that can help you.

FINALLY! I went to the small outpost around Sirius B (O'Brien Vision) and an engineer contact mission was waiting for me. I'm not sure if this was just random luck or what, but anyway, I got my mission now, after probably three of the most boring hours I spent in Elite.

Thanks everyone for your answers!

Just a not for people coming to this thread later, although Sirius doesn't control the main starport in Sirius, the Marco Qwent invitation mission can still spawn there, even without doing missions, guessing it just takes a while. It spawned for me after logging in and out a couple of times whilst docked at Patterson Entreprise (the main station in the Sirius System.)

Did you rank up with Elvira first?

I spent a day in Avik grinding missions to get the Sirius permit, then a few hours in Sirius to push my rank to fully Allied. When I returned to turn in my missions and made my rank, the invitation was waiting for me on the mission board. RNGesus accepted my sacrifice.

I think the bigger question is how do you get all those modular terminals.

Oddly enough, flying around Avik and Sirius I picked up enough missions giving these out that by the time I was done I had 32 of these in my cargo hold.
And when I took missions to Massacre ships of a given faction, hoo.. having some pirate bait in my hold brought them out of the woodwork. I was popping off Kill X number of ship missions faster than my multicannons fire. I nearly made "Hated" with one of those factions in not quite 30 minutes.

It appears that as long as the faction that controls Qwent Research Base (Sirius Free in this case, according to EDDB) is in lockdown, the invitation will not spawn, even at a base not in lockdown.

I have been trying for days to get the invitation at Efremov Plant (the only base in the system not in lockdown). But after dozens of missions, enough to get over 30 modular terminals, and a few for Sirius Corporation for good measure, still no invitation. So either the lockdown prevents the mission from spawning, or I just have the worst luck in the galaxy.

Your luck equals mine... and at least two commanders i know of. It prevents me from blazing my own trail... being stuck in the middle of BIGGER plans [mad]
Come on FRONTIER !!! Correct this one (I know Elite is a secret psychological experiment to see how far people are willing to go when facing all kind of obstructions).

Hopefully a few of you have finally gotten the invite otherwise I am doomed !! I have been doing missions, logging between solo and open and can not get this stupid invite. I have jumped from station to station and still no luck.

This engineer tops all the others before him by a lot for how grindy he is.

I got the invitation yesterday, so it still spawns and your effort will be rewarded (in the end...) When the system was in lock down it seemed impossible to get the mission. After the lock down was lifted I did a few additional missions for Sirius Corporation and bought commodities elsewhere (16 ton gold) with the intention to sell in at Patterson. When I landed with the gold still in my cargo hold I got the mission. After that lucky fact you will find yourself doing a lot of missions to get the Modular Terminals that dear Marco wants... Good luck and fly dangerous (or safe?).

Yes, after about 15 missions and 30 or more relogs I got the mission. The low RNG probability of the mission makes no sense. You have to jump through a crap load of hoops to get that far, they should have the invite mission pop a lot easier. I am about 12 MT into getting the commodities for qwent. this has been too much fun and if you believe that I got some ocean front property in Arizona to sell you.

I think I finally picked mine up at O'Brien. I, too, did a fair bit of flying around between stations in Sirius, logging out and in and all that jazz, but, in the end, the invite mission just popped up. I can't remember if the station was in lockdown or some other status. What I had done was to give up and fly to another system for a bit, but, realistically, I expect that that had nothing to do with it, and it's just about how favourable the RNG is at the time.
