How do I get the Reverb G2 controllers to work with ED?

Before I got the Reverb G2 I had the Rift S and the Touch Controllers working as they were listed as supported in the ED controller drop down but the G2 controllers are not listed.

This is what is listed on the Steam store page:

I setup a Thrustmaster T-Flight Hotas X and it works fine but I would rather use the G2 controllers since that's what I'm used to with the Rift S Touch Controllers. Hopefully someone finds a way to get the G2 controllers working.

VR controllers are rubbish for flying. Stick to HOTAS.

Before ED I played No Mans Sky, using my PS4 controller. That worked fine, but the immersion of having a HOTAS and VR in ED is way better. It takes a while to get used to with all the buttons you need to learn, but that's not different than the other controllers. Once you learn how to use the HOTAS, it's a joy. I couldn't sit down and write a list of all my bindings, but once I'm in the spaceship my muscle memory works just fine, meaning that I can fully concentrate on everything else 🤶

might take a while. frontier providing any kind of support for this headset or the controllers is very, very unlikely. guess someone might hack something together to make the g2 controllers present themselves as a generic console controller but i wouldn't wait for it, you might consider buying a compatible controller if you prefer that feel.

I'm doing ok with the Hotas everywhere in ED except the loop around Dav's Hope. There might be support for the G2 controllers by the time I get acclimated to the Hotas there.

The Hotas also changes your playstyle a bit, which also takes time. I only play in VR so I hated the SRV. Instead I go to Robigo or scavenge pirates to get manufactured mats. The SRVs handling, having done simracing, and a Hotas is not a good combination, I admit. That said, it becomes more and more enjoyable, once the brain gives up on the stupid motion sickness. Too bad you can't weigh that thing down with some sandbags.
