How do I install ED to a drive/directory of my choice?

I feel like after all these years this should be easy or at least ^%^%£ possible!!!
But I am really struggling to a) Make this happen or b) Find an answer on how to do this in the forums or online. WHY, why, why is this so difficult?
As an additional question - Will the game EVER be finished? (i.e. Leaving/ Moving around our ship and Landing on Planets with atmosphere. As promised all those years ago)?

Ok, So I seem to have managed it!
1) I removed the launcher and re-installed it to F:\Games\Elite Dangerous
2) Then 'moved' the Products\elite-dangerous-64 folder (from C:\Users\'myuser'\Appdata\local\Frontier_Developments) to Products in F:\Games\Elite Dangerous
3) Then uninstalled the game via the launcher and then re-installed it via the launcher
4) Did get an error somewhere along the line but it now seems to be working from my F: drive.
By moving the E D folder and not copying/deleting It seemed to save downloading the whole 19Gb again!
Frontier have really not made this easy though and you probably should understand what you are doing before attempting. Note: \Appdata\ is normally hidden.

I might give the new Beta a go now.
Still like to know when the game will be finished though!?!?
