How do I jump?

Hi all,

I fire up the jump drive, the counter times down to 0 seconds, but nothing happens and my ship then explodes...

What am I doing wrong?

Throttle up, Landing gear and hardpoints retracted, and point in the direction of the system you want to hyperspace in

Maximum. All the way up. You won't jump until the hyperdrive is charged and throttle is maximum. Otherwise you'll overheat and explode.

Also be sure to point at your destination. You should be seeing messages on the HUD that tell you to do these things too.

Depends on the control you are using. On a Saitek X52 / Pro - this will be the top middle button which has a cover over it.

If he gets to the overheating point, he already had everything retracted, otherwise the jumpdrive would not charge.

He did not throttle up (accelerate) and/or maybe didn't point the ship in the right direction (the little crosshair on the top right hand side of the big Scanner in the middle of the cockpit helps, it has a small blip that tells you where to steer)
