How do i know if a station has what they export?

I had a mission to collect Personal weapons. I found a station about 25ly away that exported the weapons.

I couldnt buy the data at this station so i set out anyway. When i got there they didnt have them to sell. Whats the best way to actually know for sure they have what you want available?

After scanning the galaxy map this was the nearest location. You cant be expected to know the details of systems farther afield that youve never been to. It took me long enough finding a bloody place that even exported the items lol.

I had a similar issue with auto fabricators which i needed for an extremely well paid fetch. Found what i thought was my nearest high tech but it doesnt do them so had to cancel. Now found them at another fairly local system so when that big deal comes up again i can grab it with only one jump. It is just a question of pootling around your local systems and working out who trades what and then cashing in when you can

Forget the trading tool. Go explore. I did a bit of trading and was surprised how easy it is once you look around a little and explore. Tons of opportunity out there.

Yeah ive been in the same system for a while. Might start using a log to record certain items i find on my travels.

But im currently bounty hunting not a trader. This was just a fetch mission for the navy.
