How do I launch 64-bit ED from Steam VR?

When I launch ED from Steam normally, it comes to the Frontier home page and I have to select 64 bit and then start the game. When I launch ED inside Steam VR (Oculus CV1), it bypasses the Frontier login page and goes straight into the game. (The frontier page comes up, but I do not have to interact with it like I did when launching the game normally). Unfortunately, it is launching 32bit. How can I set Steam VR to start the 64-bit version instead?

How do you know it's running the 32bit version?

Ok, here is what I did. In steam just choose to run elite dangerous horizons without VR. The normal Elite Horizons welcome portal will open. There you'll see the normal option to play 64bit Horizons. Launch it and Oculus home will also launch.

While ED is running in the rift, a client window is up on my monitor. It says 32 bit in its title bar.

I tried that once and it didn't work. I can't remember exactly how it failed, though. I'll do it again tonight and see.

Ok, so if I do that (starting Elite Dangerous, but not from SteamVR), then I can indeed choose 64-bit. But when Elite starts, it disregards my Rift completely. The sound comes through my speakers and I end up at the rotating station start screen instead of the eagle-hanger start screen. In the Rift, it just says "Please wait...sorry EliteDangerous64 is taking so long to load....".

When I exited all out of everything and tried to launch it normally via SteamVR, Steam actually crashed. I completely stopped Steam and tried again and it still crashed. I had to reboot.

Is this really not an issue for anyone else? I can't believe I'm the only one.
