(How do I...) move my PC installation to a new drive?

I think some things would work better (the intro, for instance, which is loading program code while it plays the video) if I moved my PC installation to an SSD I have hanging around.

Is there an easy way to do that (copy everything; change some settings somewhere), or would I be better off uninstalling it and re-installing it elsewhere.

If I need to uninstall it, is that done through Windows, or by using the Launcher's "Remove Local Content" button in the settings menu?

Thanks,
Robert

  • Browse to the current Frontier Launchpad installation location. By default this should be %localappdata\Frontier Developments\Frontier Launchpad but you may have installed it elsewhere. Once here you should see a Products folder.
  • Copy the Products folder you found above to a new folder on your SSD (I suggest naming the new folder Frontier Launchpad). You'll then have something like X:\Frontier Launchpad\Products where X is your SSD drive letter.
  • Uninstall Frontier Launchpad from Control Panel -> Programs and Features.
  • Reinstall Frontier Launchpad (redownload the installer from your store account if necessary) but this time install it to X:\ (where X is your SSD drive letter). NOTE: Frontier Launchpad should be appended automatically so be sure you only put the root drive to prevent it installing to X:\Frontier Launchpad\Frontier Launchpad [wink]
  • Once reinstalled at the new location run Frontier Launchpad and login. You will then be presented with a Download option for Planet Coaster and have to agree to the EULA and if you've done everything as above there should be no actual download required. It should switch to a Play icon after a few seconds.

All that remains to be done at this stage is to clean up any old files in the original install location (the original copy of your game files).

What a wonderfully detailed instructional.

I shouldn't have any problems, now. I'm glad I asked rather than stumbling through the process.

Thanks, Harbinger!
