How do I pay a bounty in Colonia Hub if I'm wanted there ?

Went down to there to pay off my fine. Requested docking and proceeded to the landing pad. Scan detected. Fired upon. Tried to get away in my Hauler but never made it out alive. Unbelievably a server connection error just at that moment re-spawned me high above the complex with new Hauler. :D

Soooo, how do I pay this off. I'm about to head out exploring again and don't want to return data heavy only to be intercepted on my return. Thanks.

Either don't get scanned, or become rank 5 Archon Delaine and have all fines and bounties reduced to 0 in his control and exploited systems :)

If you had let them kill you, it would be erased by now. Don't hit the power button next time.

Don't get scanned .. act like a smuggler and get docked as quickly as possible ..

Thanks. My landings are clumsy at best. I've been too long exploring to have developed any real flying skills, so my decent onto the landing pad was slow, but you are right, I did hesitate just inches above the landing pad as they scanned me because innocent little piggy was curious and fearless. The bounty must have originated at Colonia Hub where I had been the day before. Long story short, my sensors were completely fried after returning from the core on Friday and to my surprise I could not make contact with either Jacks or Colonia. More experienced players pointed out in another thread that I should have rebooted/repaired but that's gone the bye bye now.

So anyway, I got creative and tried to piggyback another ship into the hanger, as you do. The consequences were harsh and I was quickly dispatched along with all my exploration data.
Elite can be cruel but that's why I like it.

You could have tried to land 4-5 km out from Colonia Hub (Isn't it surface settlement?) dismiss your ship and drive in with srv and request docking while near base and it would have guided you to drive into one of the garages on one of the pads which would have your ship in it. At least i think that this could have worked.

Is it a Fine or a Bounty

What is the timer on the infraction?

It was a bounty of 162cr with 6 days to run. I'm now guessing that a bounty on me cannot be paid, only collected ?
Looking at my transactions, the bounty has vanished. Maybe the Houdini trick I pulled back on Colonia cleared my debt ?

Rank 5 Archon Delaine it is then. :)

Interesting, although I wasn't carrying a dune buggy, its worth trying next time.

Just to say that when I suggested letting them kill you earlier I didn't realise you had significant data on board now, you didn't mention that. Obviously I wouldn't have suggested it otherwise.

Just land near the Settlement, dismiss your ship, get killed in your SRV, and choose to rejoin your ship. Cheapest way to pay off a bounty. You will have to pay the bounty in that system this way (on respawn), it doesnt get cleared just by you being destroyed in the SRV.

You can't get a bounty of 162cr for 6 days. It was 6 minutes. It's now expired. Go to the system and pay off the fine (you won't see it in your transaction screen but it'll show in the contacts screen at the station).

Fines for small crimes result in a sub 1k bounty with a short (a few minutes) bounty timer. Once the timer expires, the bounty disappears when you jump out or relog. It's then just a fine.

No you were right the first time. I had been killed the day before for piggybacking another ship into a hanger (not human) and so all my exploration data was destroyed but a bounty was placed on my head as I discovered the following day and was killed again only to miraculously re-spawn high above the complex. Therefore letting them kill me was a valid answer and worth considering the next time when I have nothing to lose.
Cheers

Makes sense. I must have read it wrong. Trouble is I'm now 2800Ly out of Jaques with an unpaid fine but I'm planning on returning in a few days. Will they be after me for non payment ?

Don't pay fines, don't pay bounties. Its more fun that way.

You're right. I did this a few times in my Cobra when I first started playing and it was fun. :D I'm not done with exploration yet but when I do I will take up where I left off.
