How do I rename my ship?

I had the same conundrum the other day when I bought my Clipper. Could find it because in VR it’s outside your FOV if you’re looking at the left menu.

Never rename a ship. Sell it, buy a new one exactly the same, and give that one the new name. You have been warned.

If it's the first and only name you've given it, aside from the default alpha-numeric soup, then yeah, OK.

It was the first. I generally agree with this principle. Don’t want the maritime bad ju-ju.

Only time I ever broke the rule was when I accidentally gave my Mamba the same name as another ship in my fleet. Thankfully it hasn’t come back to bite me yet.

Ceremony for Renaming Your Boat

Read it. Memorize it. Do it. For your safety and the safety of all those who board her. For the sake of all that's holy, think of the children.

It's unlucky to rename a ship.

I have a friend IRL with a boat named "Assassin".
It's totally a family trailer cruiser, but no-one is game to rename it.

I guess it's bad luck to be superstitious.

They could paint out the other letters and leave it as "A s s" :D

.... or, if they want to be creative .... as "s a s s i" ;)

It was named Keelback. I never changed it before.

IF the vehicle has never ever been officially Christened previously. One can rename a boat or ship or aircraft as many times as they wish.

In this case you are free to proceed without fearing the devastating but inevitable catastrophe caused by renaming your ship :)

I actually followed my advice with my Courier. I wanted to change the name once I began engineering it and sold it, bought another one exactly like it, and reinstalled the modules. It might seem silly, but then you be a land lubber matey. Naval and sea traditions are not to be trifled with.
