Engineers HOW DO I RESET MY GAME?

Susan from AI Programming said that the new AI uses Adaptive Logic, so that the AI responds in kind to the level at which we are in the game. So, that being understood, how do I change my level so that the AI doesn't recognize me as much a threat as say the Elite/Dangerous crowd?

Currently, I'm considered Dangerous with 11% towards Elite status in combat, as well as the same in the other 2 areas. What my question is is how do I reset my game so that I am "Harmless" again? I'm desperate, I paid for the full ride and short of getting a refund for what I percieve is a game I can't play, I'd settle for restarting the game and using the Adaptive Logic to my advantage.

Main menu, 'Clear Save.'

Edit: uh, that's for Xbox, don't know if it's the same on PC; forgot to check which forum I was on.

This thread is why an optional combat rank reset is needed.

You still have Deadly between you and Elite. ;)

Think twice about clearing your save. I do that from time to time, it's great fun to start over, but you lose everything, not only your rank :D
It's in the options, btw.

Clear save, but you will lose everything you have earned, credits, ships, power rankings, everything. Also the Elite combat ranking order is dangerous, deadly, and then elite.

I think Sarah was talking about future changes. That adaptive logic isn't really in there yet.

Thanks Chris. Oh, if you can clear your save, can you save or archive your save? For instance, if they fix the bug, could I reset my archived save?

If you clear your commander, you will also clear everything else you have been working for, ships money everything!

maybe ask FD to only clear your rank status? its worth a try.

Thank you all. I will give this some serious thought and maybe just give it a week longer to see if the kinks get worked out first. Afterall, if I get reduced to 0 credits in insurance costs from destruction, it will be like starting over anyway, then I will wipe my game and start over.

you can also buy a small cheap combat ship like viper mkIII and get used to the new AI without hefty rebuys. there is nothing wrong to take a viper mkIII to a nav beacion or RES for testing. i have flown mainly small unmodded ships in the beta, and i now have a good idea how to counter the AI. it's a bit of relearning (no pro-combat pilot here either). you don't have to pay for those lessons with a maxed out pythons rebuy.

Some NPCs have super effective weapons, now, which is a bug, and I believe it will be one of the first things patched very soon. Maybe wait for a bit. If you want, you can kind of "soft restart"
Just buy a Sidey, A-rate her and have fun around! :)

edit. These Mod-ninjas, though! :D

That's really good advice: a lot of commanders appear to be caught in the "big ship trap" thinking they can safely counter the AI because they are well armed and ... well in a big ship !

The game at present favors gaining skill in the smaller ships so that rebuy is not so punishing.

I got myself a icourier because paranoia took over as I was flying my Python ...
With the enhanced performance thruster and lightweight this ship is a blast :D
If things get too hot you just boost away -> 580 m/s
