How do I see the landables that have surface features in the system map??

Hi,
So i'm playing around with some "lite" exploration while unlocking Palin and have come across planets that have geological features.
After I finish FSS scanning all bodies I go to the system map to see whats what, and there's not a single word about which of these bodies has the features, in a system that has 30 bodies I cant be flying to each to DSS them until I find the one..

Ok I thought, next time I'll write down the body (stupid I need to tbh) but next system I was getting spammed by belt cluster discoveries so when I was in the FSS scanning the bodies, the FSS wasn;t even displaying the name so I could write it down because of the spam.

I was still getting spammed from the same system two jumps on..

So No.1 - What is the best way to identify which body to go to?

No.2 - Is that horrible belt cluster spam gonna get fixed? It just doesnt stop !!

Thankyou all.

Sadly, right now the surface features only show up in the FSS. The map will show you which ones you've mapped after the fact, but not which ones had geology or biology detected. Adding something to the map info and/or the nav panel has been a feature request since the beta for 3.3.

2. The spamming alert should be fixed now.

1. You can see whether the planet will have (geological) features in the left panel on the system map. Basically any kind of volcanic activity listing should translate into geological features, that you do see in your ship HUD left panel, once you've done a surface scan. "Permanent" Alien features I don't think are listed in system map at all , Human features (small bases) I think you can target from SysMap.

I put permanent in 'commas' because I think possible these things are not in system map because they're not necessarily permanent; volcanic geysers for example could go cold and disappear, new ones popping up elsewhere so the System Map wouldn't be able to guarantee they're still there, say a year later.

Well I was getting spammed last night so I'm thinking not...

Thanks for the Volcanism Tip - So if theres alien stuff down there its not going to be pickep up in FSS?? Hmmm

While we're here, does anybody know if all the biological or geological features will be the same on each planet? So if you've found brain trees at one spot, they'll ALL be brain trees?

BIologicals should all be the same on the same planet; I believe they are all the same in the same sector (ie. if you find Roseus Brain Trees in the Pencil sector, then all the biologicals in the Pencil sector will be roseus brain trees). There should be two different types of Geologicals on each planet with geological features, though I believe it's basically a "coin toss" which type each feature is, so if the number of features is small, then you start getting into higher probabilitites that all the geologicals will be the same type. The feature types are selected based on the "volcanism" statistic which you can see on the FSS and in the system map stats page for the planet, as per this thread.

I was just about to start a new thread with the same question. I think that this is such an oversight that it's a borderline bug.

Unfortunately, this isn't always the case. I was excited to finally locate a planet with ammonia geysers, only to find zero sites after a surface scan. Only time I've ever seen it happen that way, though.

no way to identify from the system map, only in the FSS, and even then you dont know what they are, and even after probing and finding 49 biological sites there could be 48 bark mounds and 1 brain tree but you wont know unless you VISIT THEM ALL! ;)
