How do I see the planetary ring material percentage?

I probed a few planetary rings last night, but couldn't get the material composition to show. I'm pretty sure this is supposed to display now.

Can anyone show me how to see the material composition?

Also. Is it in the log? As it would be nice to get this data added to tools like EDDB.

You know, I was so focused on the hot spots that I never looked.

I'm finding plenty of hotspots, for platinum, painite, LDTs and lots of other things I can't spell.

But I'd really like to check how well the mats compare to the percentages I've worked out in previous versions.

Plus, it would be nice to find the best places to mine for some of the good ones, like selenium.

Are you seeing these hotspots in general pristine metallics? I only had time to arrive at my usual mining location last night and fire a probe, I didn't see anything, and thought it was only useful in locations with a defined res. I'm excited to try the new mining mechanics but it certainly isn't intuitive.

TIA

I'm scanning all four ring types, but they are all pristine out here at the edge of the bubble. Hotspots are showing up in all ring types. Including painite showing in metal-rich rings, which never used to be a thing.

To see the hotspots, you need to fire a DSS probe at the ring, not the planet. One probe per ring. You need to get in pretty close to hit the inner metallic rings - or maybe that's just me with poor aim.

It appears that I was completely mistaken with expecting the material percentages of rings to display.

A FSS scan will show the mat percentages of a planet, including ones that can't be landed on. This has nothing at all to do with the composition of the planet's rings - especially since planets often have more than one ring, with very different compositions.

I'm quite disappointed by this. I had hoped that FD had added at least one quality of life addition for the old style of mining. But no.
