Newcomer / Intro how do I stop cargo hatch malfunction from heat?

I can't explain why I believe the destination was between me and the sun after the jump.

What do you mean? Is it a secret?

Tell you what, as soon as you get into the system press X to drop down to minimum cruise. That will give you time to safely choose your destination....and yes sometimes you will need to fly around the star. It makes no difference at what angle you approach...heh not unless your destination had some kind of trick up its sleeve. The kind of trick that says pfffft what do i need to orbit for...i'd just lock myself here onto this arbitrary point in space and showboat my uniform motion.

I kind of think you are having a go at us with this thread...but if not then i think you should revisit the tutorials to fill in some of your blind spots.

Good luck

Ok I checked my key bindings, end is the only key for that. If I had accidentally pressed it I believe I would of lost all my cargo. I can't explain why I believe the destination was between me and the sun after the jump. The most logical explanation was that it was on the other side of the star.

That doesn't mean you have to fly through the star to get to it.

What we all do is this.

1) When you exit your jump (you can do this during the jump even) press 'x' to throttle to minimum speed.

2) When you exit your speed will be at minimum, you will be facing a star but you won't be taking any heat damage.

3) Turn the ship completely away from the star in the opposite direction and hit full throttle.

4) Give it 30 seconds then stop again.

5) Now line up for your destination having put some distance between you and the star.

Let us know how you get on.

The problem is he says this has happened at least 4 times. Have you ever had cargo being blown into space from damage?

In all the months I've played so far, never.

However... after 1.2 you take module damage when overheating now and if it escalates it moves on to hull damage. So it is very possible this is something new as I'm sure it was only hull damage prior to 1.2.

Yes it seems that's it. Someone else has reported the same thing. That is an interesting change. I've noticed my external components take heat damage faster than the internal ones so it would make sense that the hatch goes early.

I think he has worked out that its when the destination is on the other side of the sun. If you don't realise how the system is laid out it could look like you have to head towards it to get to your destination. Everyone just needs to know that you arrive at the main star and everything else is further away.
