Sometimes Elite wipes my bidings. How do I stop that? It's a pain in the to reassign all of the bidings again.
how do i back them up? why cant elite just not up with my keybindings, it's so annoying.Only time that happens on my rig is when a USB device loses connection before ED starts up, then the sim goes to the default control scheme. Correcting the USB fault always resolves the issue for me.
You can also back up your bindings. AS far as I am aware, Elite never actually deletes your bindings.
Duplicate your bind file and rename it, select the renamed file in game to prevent elite from overwriting your binds. On PC the bindings should be here: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings

A timely reminder for me to back up my bindings file! Thanks!Sometimes Elite wipes my bidings. How do I stop that? It's a pain in the to reassign all of the bidings again.

This. Moronic....But the real killer with this is the USB fails. So if you have a bunch of controllers plugged in when you set up your bindings, they have to ALL be there or Elite loads NO bindings...
Good point!Yes, it's a good idea to back up your Options folder, obviously.
But the key thing with this issue is to rename the file that you create when you set up your control profile. The issue is that by default, the game uses Custom.binds when you customize your controls, but then, if anything is added or missing it overwrites that file.
So the important thing is not to leave your customized controls as the default Custom.binds (which can be overwritten), but change the file name to something unique. That way, if a controller is missing or added, your control profile doesn't get overwritten.
Nope. E: D doesn't overwrite the file. It invalidates it. The file is still right there and will pop up again ONLY IF you reinsert every peripheral present at your initial binding session. Sorry for being a bit slow/dense, but do I understand this correctly:^^As said above, this way your binds will not be reset if a controller is missing:
This way you can also make multiple configs for different setups to change easily via options.
- Make a copy of your "custom.binds" here: "%LOCALAPPDATA%\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Bindings "
- Rename the file.
- Edit the file with an editor (for example: Notepadd++).
In the 2nd or 3rd line there is the displayname, this will show in "Elite > Options > Control".- Back up you files.
