How do I visit our solar system and Earth?

Please excuse my ignorance, I have only played a few hours of this game. How do I visit our solar system and Earth in this game? Thank you.

Sol is not among the systems we can visit in the current Beta phase. We may see it at some point during Beta, or more likely have to wait until Gamma.

The Sol system is not in the current Beta bubble of accessable systems. Even so, planetary landing will not be available for a while and will be released as DLC at some point in the future.

Once planetary landings are in place I hope they sign a nerd agreement with Google and create a little google earth in ED...

I hope they do something completely unique with Earth, it's been over 1200 years in-game.

I want to see a scorched Earth, remanants of the massive war that forced us into space.
Or a garden Earth, with landing severely restricted, and only a few tens of thousands of people allowed to live there in order to do the upkeep on the nature reservations.
Or a hugely industrialised Hive-Earth, universal smog, and more urban areas than natural ones, where they have to import water and food along with stock to feed the city-sized factory complexes.

Who wants to see it as it is now? This is a sci-fi game hundreds of years in the future.

If I recall correctly from the Elite timeline, there is environmental devastation in the 21st century, followed by WW3. This has a significant impact on the planet which is only addressed come 3000AD. There is a massive cleanup and Earth is now seen as one of the most desirable places to go/live. Sort of an anti-Bladerunner.

Sounds about right, maybe some zombies here and there, a game is not a game without zombies.

Nice! Scorched Earth becomes Garden-planet. I can live with that.

there will be enough zombies in the pilots chairs ;)

Truth.

In FFE (the previous game to ED) which is set fifty years before in 3250, Earth was totally obscured by pollution (the fictional rational for the game engine back in 1993 not being able to render continents effectively) - though it was completely clear in 3200 (with the simpler vector graphics utilised in FE2)

Either it will still be a Venus-like ball of smog, or there'll have been some major atmospheric cleanup in the intervening fifty years.

Either way, it will be interesting to see if the icecaps have survived in 3300.

Cheers,

Drew.

Well. If they can't make it in time, why not start with the polluted Earth, and clean it up during the next few years? :D

Technically with patience you can fly down to a planet's surface at the moment but there's nothing to see and you can't land, you just clip through into nothingness.

Sol is fairly close to the outer most systems we can visit. Hopefully soon.

If they add a Google Earth, They lets hope they add a planet killer weapon. :p

Damn right we must have Zombies! A space plague with quarantined systems and hardy spacers breaking the quarantine to deliver much needed medicines, only to spread the zombie disease across the stars, with the Empire and Federation ceasing their squabbles as both try to combat the plague of killer Zombies in Ships!

Nurse? Coming Nurse.
